How much does each clip/ring weigh? Could they be used as outdoor curtain weights?

they do not weigh much as they are made of aluminum (i think) but they hold up heavy duty curtains, so I think it would work just fine for your outdoor curtains. I have lined interlined heavier sunblocking curtains that have a nice weight to them and clips work marvelously. I have curtains on ikea wide rods, wall to wall floor to ceiling curtains (yes, all the way to the ceiling not just above window frame, so curtains are heavy. I have clips every 5".) 4 year old yanks them on daily basis back and forth they move as they ought to, and no issues holding curtains properly.

Are these one piece and or where they are molded together are they smooth inside? Have seen others that are so badly rough they scratch the rod.

you can see and feel the joint but they do not stop the ring from moving on the rod, not exactly smooth joint but not bad either.
