Well built - good product for a great price. Nice Glass Bowl
So - I waited to write a review until I fully tested this thing. Over the past several weeks I found the good and the bad parts. First off, this is the first time I ever used anything like this, but from my research the glass vs lexon/plastic, glass ins every time. The plastic cracks after about a year or so. This bowl is heavy glass, easy to clean and should outlast the unit.Fries - the grates are too far apart to make them, BUT - I purchased a cooking mat and cut it to fit - now it cooks some fries-https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C0WYY4Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Chicken- Frozen did not do so well, thawed out did OK, but breaded did better, especially on the above mat for breaded chicken strips.Mozzarella sticks- Frozen takes about 10 - 13 minutes and makes the best I ever had, perfect, but again, I used the mat, it worked better.Pizza Rolls- Again, on the above mat they came out awesome.Steak - Not so good, found better ways of making these, see my reviews (RangeMate)https://www.amazon.com/Rangemate-set-Nonstick-Microwave-Grill/dp/B00IM95RFE/ref=cm_cr-mr-titlePotato Wedges- Cook great and quicklySmall Deep Dish Pizza- I make them from scratch, and tried it - worked very well, better than the oven,Rolls-again, on the mat they cooked faster and better than the oven.I'm sure there are more things to cook with this, but as a single guy, I do not cook a lot of stuff.Overall I believe this was well worth the money-It saves energy, cooks fast and better than other options.

These are great, but not extremely well made
These are great, but not extremely well made. I have bought five, three for my mother, one for me, and one for my son-in-law. My mother uses her's every day, sometimes three times a day, and cooks almost everything in it. Over 4 years or so she has had two die. Both were because of the cord connection which is cheap. I have also replaced a bulb in one of hers. I have had mine about 4 years, use an average of three times a week, and it's still in good shape. My son-in-law has had no problems with his either. These are great little cookers. Plot a frozen pork chop or slice of loin, or a frozen steak or chicken in it and in 20-30 minutes it cooks perfectly. No need for defrosting. Fresh meats cook faster. All come out juicy. They make good baked "french fries" and many foods are better warmed over in this oven compared to a microwave. This oven is relatively small and you can only get about 2-3 pork chops or chicken breasts on a single layer (you can have two layers). You can use the extender and cook a whole chicken, but it's a tight fit (I bought a beer-in-the-butt rack that works well for this oven). So, if you are feeding more than two people, you might want the larger model.

Mini Turbo Oven not for me
This review is for the Secura Halogen MINI Turbo Convection Oven. I know this has gotten really good reviews and perhaps I simply don't understand how to use it. I really wanted this to work and particularly wanted to use it in our camper. I did try to work with it. First I tried two pork chops placed on the lower rack with sliced carrots around them. Pork chops were dry (maybe cooked too long) and the carrots were not done at all. Finally finished up by simmering pork chops in a skillet with broth for 15 minutes and put carrots into a pan and boiled to finish them. Next cooked some raw spinach and tomatoes which came out pretty good. Finally, tried a whole small chicken with cut up turnips and onions. The top of the chicken browned nicely and looked yummy, but the poor chicken's entire backside was barely warm and definitely still raw. Ended up putting the chicken in the oven to finish cooking. Turnips, like the carrots, had to be boiled. Perhaps the fact that this was the mini oven instead of a full-sized oven made the difference. Whatever the reason, I've returned the oven and am sticking to my skillet and regular oven.

Glass bowl is important
I purchased this mainly because of the glass bowl that is part of the oven. I have had several of the air turbo ovens and the "space age plastic" domes always develop cracks in a couple of years. I like the glass in this one and it is good for several items I have tried and not really great for others. I'm still learning how to cook/heat up food in this appliance so I may work it out. It seems it takes longer to cook food; about equal to my regular oven and I had hoped it would take a shorter time. Forget about cooking anything in the frozen state. The infrared feature is good for heating up cooked foods. Better than the microwave. It takes real effort and trial and error to figure out how to get the food up out of the glass bowl after cooking. I thought I could just put the plate on the rack and heat it up. Removing the plate is almost impossible. Everything is very hot so be careful when you have to remove foods from the bottom. Still learning how to use it.
