GREAT Heat Therapy Mitts!!
February 6, 2016I purchased these MICROWAVEABLE BUCKWHEAT HEAT THERAPY MITTS from Amazon in mid-October, and they are WONDERFUL! Initially, it is necessary to determine the amount of time you want to heat them in the microwave in order to achieve the level of heat that you are looking for. After you do this, you should be able to get it correct each time you heat them (unless you use a different microwave). My husband plays the guitar and is beginning to get arthritis in his hands. I have played the organ for many years and have had arthritis in my hands for a long time, which is getting progressively worse. They work SO WELL for both of us! When I noticed that our grandson’s violin teacher seems to have trouble with his hands when the weather is cool or humid, I decided to get these mitts for him as a gift. How disappointing to find that they are currently unavailable! My husband and I have been using these mitts for over three months now, and they have shown no signs of coming apart. Some of the other reviewers mention that they do not hold the heat for a long time, which is actually true. They do, however, stay warm long enough to make both my husband’s hands and my hands feel so much better. If you are sitting or laying down and don’t mind getting up to re-heat them, this works very well if you want to use them for a longer period of time. If you don’t want to do this, simply wrap a thick towel around each one and the heat will remain in the mitts for a much longer period of time.We love the “mitten” shape of these mitts, and they fit my husband’s larger hands as well as my smaller ones quite nicely. Over-all, they are great, and I give them five stars because they have helped us both a great deal! I have been doing much of my shopping on Amazon for many years, and this is the first review I have ever written. I am hoping these heat therapy mitts will be returned to the market, and wanted to give my opinion.Lori B.

Easy to use
My husband likes these. He says they don’t stay hot for very long, but he likes them very hot for long periods. They are easy to put on and help with the arthritis in his hands. I’ve tried them and would definitely add them to my self spa time

I wish so much for a product change
Bought this item for hubby. Bad arthritis pain in his hands, especially at night, ESPECIALLY here in the northeast in the winter. We have an 1100 watt microwave. Mike for 1 minute on one side. Take out of mike, shake the heck out out them. Mike for 30 seconds on the other side. Slide them onto his hands, and pat the stuffing til it's evenly distributed. Low tech and we're very happy with the results. The problem is, that they are not washable. I find myself ripping seams, putting the guts into a bowl, handwashing the mitts, drying them, then reassembling the mitts. COME ON MANUFACTURER !!! Provide a velcro strip with which to open up the mitts and empty the contents. Then I can put the mitts into a mesh laundry bag, and sanitize the guts. You have a fine product here. Please make it accessible to those of us who want to help out our loves, prevent waste, and protect the environment. These low tech mitts are great. Came in to review, as I make an order for another pair.

Disappointing
I bought these mitts for my husband for Christmas and we quickly learned that microwaving them for 30-40 seconds barely warms the mitts and provides little heated relief on his cold hands. So of course, he microwaved them for longer, like a minute and a half, until they actually provided some warmth. That lasted for about a week until they literally caught fire in the microwave! The product is not made for that kind of heating, so I'm not blaming them for the results of overheating the mitts - more that 30-40 seconds is simply not enough to make a difference in warming a person's hands. We tossed them and are now looking for a mitt that can be heated for longer and provide the warmth and relief promised.

They are the best for comfort and ease of using them.
They are comfortable. I warm both in the microwave for the allotted time put them on my arthritic hands and the heat from the gloves is so soothing I can sleep at night. The material is so soft and gentle feeling on aching hands. They are a great product can’t say enough about them. I can also put them in my suitcase and travel with them when I visit relatives, they don’t take up hardly any room. I can either toss them in as they are or rolll them up and then toss them in. I have used them now for 5 years, every night, I just wore out my first pair. I ordered 2 because I plan to share with a friend that her hands are getting arthritic.DONT STOP MAKING THEM. They are needed. They are long lasting I spent 2 months, when I first started looking for a product for my hands, this was 5 years ago, and quite a bit of money before finding these gloves. They are the best.

Minimally Sufficient
I thought about returning these, because, as so many other reviewers have already mentioned, they don't get very warm. I kept them because they're not very expensive, and because they do get warm enough to be better than nothing. Faint praise, I know. I have RA, and I'm also a pianist, so I was hoping for a product that might actually provide some therapeutic benefit-I don't think these mitts are gonna do it, but we'll see-it's August now; ask me again in January!Edit: OK, it's polar-vortex January now, and I'm more appreciative of these mitts than I was in August. I no longer expect them to provide significant therapy, but they sure do provide comfort. And when they lose their heat after only a few minutes, it's not exactly a terrible hardship for me to nuke them again for another 60 seconds. I've also noticed that if I use these mitts for a few minutes immediately before playing the piano, my hands are a little more flexible and a little less painful than they would otherwise be. I think I should have given these mitts an extra star and a kinder title in my original review. Mea culpa.
