Katy Hudson

I was introduced to Katy's music when a line on California Gurls was called into question by The Beach Boys publisher. Of course, I bought the single just to hear what all the excitement was about. As I learned more about Katy, I learned about a Gospel cd she made long before she made it as a pop singer. I found the album on a download and fell in love with it. I am a Born Again Christian, and when I saw the label that released the cd, an instant connection was made because a lot of my favorite Southern Gospel artists also recorded for the parent company Pamplin. For me, it was like "this is a Katy Perry album I can enjoy." I saw her in concert like a month later, and after the show, on the way home, popped in the Katy Hudson cd. For fans of her pop music, listen to Growing Pains. She's basically saying "hey, I'm just a kid, I still have some growing up to do" but at the same time, she's saying "I'm gonna be somebody one day, here's a chance to see what I can do." There are also songs talking about dealing with fear, and that no matter how far you stray from God, trust in him, and he will take you back with open arms. You definitely get an early sense of Katy's humor, which showed up in her later pop albums. This cd should definitely be re-released, and made available to the public at a price that does not break the bank.

Everything that has become a trademark style of katy Perry is here - positive and uplifting songs that convey such depth and emotion you find yourself marvelling that they were penned by a young girl of sixteen years of age . The vocals are clean , clear and strong - again belying the youthful innocence of the singer and sounding like a woman of mature grace and strength . The album resounds almost prophetically with songs such as " Growing Pains " a whimsical tune with some very dynamic thoughts that give you an inkling of the star that would soon come to rise and explode on the music scene like a firework . The christian message comes through every song but not in a preachy manner but a simple and sometimes understated commentary of faith that anyone can comprehend and relate to . Perhaps the most striking of all the cuts is " When There Is Nothing Left " an earthy and passionate love song to Jesus that could likely bring a tear to the eye of even the most jaded cynic . First of all I was pleasantly surprised when the Katy Hudson CD I had ordered arrived much sooner than expected, especially since I had purchased it as a birthday gift to myself. Also, the CD was listed as "very good" condition, but near as I can tell it seems to be in "like new" condition! The price I paid(including shipping) was a small fraction of what other vendors are asking for the same product, which led me to be skeptical until I played the album. Absolutely no skips ,scratches, or bumps anywhere to be heard or seen.Musically, this is a terrific record. I enjoy listening to the instrumentals, background effects and, of course, Ms. Hudson-Perry's vocals which stand out with clarity, strength, poignancy and "soul". Her singing and song writing abilities are absolutely amazing and even more surprising given she was only 15-16 years old when the album was recorded and released. I like some of the tunes Ms. Hudson-Perry has done since this record's release, but all the tracks on "Katy Hudson" are fantastic.

Even though the item was advertised as "Like New", it was indeed new and unwrapped CD, so bonus vs. others which were offered for about the same price but were listed as "Good" condition, or the "New" ones which were more expensive. Best of all, the shipping was superfast and when I emailed the seller asking if he could expedite it so I get it on time i.e. before I leave US, he confirmed and shipped it fastest possible and the CD arrived on time.

This is a hard to find CD of Katy Perry's first recording. Thank you for filling out my collection.

When Katy Perry first came out on radio with "I kissed a girl" I had no idea she had a history already established in the music industry. This is a Christian inspired album...but its very good! and kind interesting to see what Katy Perry was singing before she got her smash hit...
