Found a better fan than this! Lasko/Stanley Model #655650
Update June 30th 2015: Refer to my review of Lasko/Stanley Model #655650...... Unfortunately, for reasons I don't understand, wall-mounted fans with remote controls are hard to come by and ruggedly-constructed ones and ones with powerful motors are non-existent. 2 1/2 years ago, I bought one of this model, one similar model but with an Air King brand label, and a third similar model with a Comfort Zone brand label. The Comfort Zone brand label wall fan literally self-destructed tonight with the plastic housing that the base clamps on to disintegrating into plastic powder and littering the floor with sharp plastic fragments, leaving the fan facing the floor, hanging from the electrical cord. All three brands are still available and, since my other two fans have been switched on almost constantly for more than 2 years (and the broken Comfort Zone has been hardly used), I figured I'd go with the cheaper of Air King and HomeBasix (that's HomeBasix) since both of these branded fans have performed similarly. All three brands have shatter-prone (rather than shatter-proof) plastic casings and stands and are not made to survive any knocks but since this is all that's available, I'm giving it 4 stars as it's run without a problem for 2+ years and well enough for me to get a second one.Update on 6-15-2014:I received this fan and discovered that, apart from the brand-name printed on the center plate of the wire blade guard, it's identical to the Comfort Zone wall fan that it's replacing because of its spontaneous self-destruction. I'm sending it back and will see how it fares this time around since pickings are very slim in terms of any real competition.Update on 6-22-2015I've replaced this fan with a Stanley (Lasko) 20" high velocity wall fan with remote control for ~$56. I'm *much* happier with this Stanley fan for the following reasons: 1. Much more powerful motor / 2. Much higher fan speed so that I've gone from being dissatisfied with the slow speed of the "fast" setting on the Homebasix fan to sometimes wishing, on this Stanley fan, for a slower speed than the "slow" setting allows for. 3. Consequently much faster to cool a room of built up hot air 4. *Hugely* superior manufacturing quality (like night and day) and I anticipate this will last a very long time (but I can't as yet claim that I know this first-hand after just 24 hours (-:I've researched wall fans with remote controls for nearly a decade and learned that they're not easy to find. As far as I can ascertain this is not a new model but a floor-standing model with remote that has recently been upgraded to include a wall bracket so that it will function as well on the wall (where I've mounted it) as on the floor. So, if you look for this, dont' be put off by its being labelled a "floor-standing" model. The model is #:655650. I found it listed both on Lasko's home section as well as under "Stanley" using Google.

Perfect of us
I purchased this fan after we got my boys a bunk bed. My boy on the top bunk complained about it being so hot up there so I did some searching for a fan. We previously had been using a clip on type of fan that attached to wooden bed railing but I hated that. Now with the fan mounted high on the wall I can point it at him or have it oscillating to move air about the room. Now the breakdown.Pros:1. Mounting bracket - I like that it comes with an actual mounting bracket. No key hole slides to mount it to the screws in the wall.2. Remote control - Has all functions. Don't have to worry about my boys standing on something to hit the buttons. We have tall ceilings and the fan is out of reach to a small child.3. Light weight - This works for the mounting bracket and our old house.CONS:1. Packaging and shipping - Not really a con for the unit exactly I guess but my GOD! Did the shipper kick this thing down the hallway. The box was smashed and beat up and looked like it had been re-taped about 5 times. Also when I opened it there was only two pieces of foam in it. As if they forgot to put the other foam spacer pieces in there so I don't know if this was a return or what. The fan cover was bent up a little bit but easily fixed with my fingers.2. Cord placement - This is just silly. The cord comes out of the top. I'm sorry I DON'T HAVE A OUTLET IN MY CEILING! It woould be safe to say probably 99 percent of the purchasers for this fan do not have an outlet up high as well. Maybe if I was a qualified electrician or something. They could have at least made it where you can route the cord through the base and out the bottom similar to a phone if you're going to mount it on the wall or on a table. Just a little extra effort in design is all it needs.3. Noise - Not too much of a complaint here but be aware that it does make some noise if using it in a small child's room. Every fan in my house makes some noise. It's a fan. It's blowing air.All I can think of at the moment. I really like this fan and plan on purchasing a couple more for some other rooms. Keeps it off the floor and out of the way.

Great fan, lots of extras
Just hung this fan in my garage in the beach area of DE, where heat is the norm and often a problem in the Summer -- I needed an oscillating fan, and purchased this model, as there are few oscillating fans under $60 to choose from. Some reviewers gave it low marks because it wasn't fully assembled -- but I've never seen a wall-mounted fan that is. Instructions were a little hard to read, but you don't have to be a genius to figure it out -- it's very easy. It took me about 30 minutes to unpack the fan, check for parts, read the instructions, assemble it, install the very simple mounting hook on the wall, put batteries in the remote...and I was done. Fan doesn't come with mounting hardware -- I used two #12 x 1 1/2" wood screws to ensure it would hold -- be sure you mount it to studs. The fan has 4 oscillating/non oscillating speeds, and a timer, which I thought was pretty neat, in case you leave a room and forget to turn it off. And it's very quiet. One negative: The engineering decision to mount the cord on the TOP of the fan is nonsense. Cord should exit the bottom of the motor housing -- as installed, you lose about 8" of cord length. Perhaps it was designed as a joke, to see how many customers would complain about it.Overall, it's a great fan for a reasonable price. I have a larger Lasko wall fan I bought from BJ's -- it pushes more air, but it sounds like a Cessna prop -- it does the job, but wish I'd found this quieter fan prior to buying the one at BJ's.
