Great Product, Great Company. Put this on your list.
Overall Impressions: The hold is best described as "malleable tacky" as it can be easily reshaped like a traditional petroleum based pomade but has the lightness of a water based product. The smell is traditional, almost like a mix of musk and old spice. The scent is not overpowering and does not fade throughout the day. The product has an initial matte finish that becomes more and more shiny through out the day, especially after multiple combings. It does not stain pillow cases (which my wife loves). Two washings is required to completely remove the product.Application: I have shorter hair so I simply towel dry. The product scoops easily and I have found that application is best after rubbing it between the palms until translucent. Overall I use around nickle size portion a little at a time (a little goes a long way). The product is light in the hair and has a very slight "comb pull".Hold/Durability: Surprisingly, the initial hold is strong while adding volume. The first time I used the product, I was sure I'd have to constantly comb my hair to retain the shape. This was not the case. The hold was great and required minimal care. I did, however, comb often the second day to see how it impacted the hold. My hair retained the general shape but did lose some volume while increasing in shine. I have naturally oily hair so this was a result of my natural hair oils mixing with the product. Because I have oily hair, I do not allow product to build between washings. I did skip a shower and restyled my hair and added new product. It worked well enough that I would feel confident going to work if I was pressed for time and needed to skip a morning shower.Winter Test: I spent the day exploring a local downtown with my family. It was snowing heavily and I was not wearing a hat. My hair was exposed to a constant snow/melt/snow/melt cycle for the better part of an hour. My hair held up well and did not require more than a simple combing.Special Note: This company donates $1 for each product sold to zerocancer.org, an organization dedicated to ending prostate cancer. I really admire small businesses who are willing to help others. Keep up the good work guys.

Great Pomade
Update: My favorite pomade, period. Love the scent, hold, and shine. Not sure what kind of shampoos others are using but this comes off my hair with one good lathering, 2 max; and that's only if I allow too many days and applications to go by between washes. Considering this contains good natural wax, oils, and butters (which make it work as well as it does), it cannot be expected to just slide right off the hair with no effort.Only applied a few times over the last 3 days but I already feel like this is my favorite pomade ever. The ingredients alone make it a stand-out. Good, natural substances in a clever blend that seems to provide good hold while helping to keep hair soft. I have thick, mildly coarse, and sort of stubborn African American hair and with other pomades, I've had to apply a lot of my natural moisturizing blend to keep it from feeling weird (like the hair itself is somehow dry but has a layer of greasy goop on it). THIS seems to require less help keeping my hair soft. Might even forego a separate moisturizer after my next wash and see how that pans out. Scent is pleasant; present but not overpowering.

Good Pomade - Don't Buy for the Scent
As a Pomade this is very good. It holds well without being stiff, crunchy, or greasy and a little bit of rain or sweat won't have it running down the back of your neck or into your face. A good, medium hold that is low shine as advertised. However, if you're purchasing it for the bay rum scent, you may feel disappointed upon receiving it. It has a VERY faint scent that is many things, but bay rum is not one of them. Because the scent is so light I've kept it but may try the unscented next time and mix a drop of my bay rum beard oil in when applying it to my hair and see what happens.I dinged it 1 star for the scent not bei g advertised or what I had hoped, but everything else about this Pomade is excellent. I may reach out to this company and the company that makes my beard oil and see if I can get them to collaborate on a product, because that would make this perfect (for me, anyway).

This is the pomade that took my breath away
I have been on an endless search for a new and better pomade to use. This is because at first I started by using pomade such as uppercut pomade but I felt like it had a short shelf life (then again this was my first pomade and I would rarely style my hair so I'm certain that's why it was no good after half a year or so). So i began my journey by going down the rabbit hole and learning more about pomades. At first I started reading about oil based, water based, unorthodox water based, etc. During my search I found a reliable pomade but I felt that it was tough to order from them considering that they do their own shipping so the two day shipping was not an option (would take roughly a month to receive and they're local to me). This lead to me looking up new pomades that I would love to try and then I stumbled upon this beautiful and unmatched pomade. Battle Born Grooming truly knows how to make a real light to handle and creamy textured pomade. Each day before work or prior to going out, I usually aim to use this product because of how easy it is to handle and style my hair. The smell is great and reminds me of a warm and soothing autumn evening. Well to be precise, it smells like a light amount of vanilla. I enjoy the smell and to be honest, I avoid using cologne because I feel that this smell alone is sufficient for me. As someone with somewhat thick hair, I need to put a good amount or roughly two and a half dime sized drops. But this is because my hair is a little on the longer side so I need more pomade to make sure my hair doesn't droop or fall. Doing this allows me to have my hair the way I want it for the entire day. My ONLY concern is washing it out. Then again it is my fault because I put a substantial amount in my hair.Overall, I am really pleased with this product. I do not know why but prior to reading any reviews or informing myself of this pomade, I was skeptical that I would like it. All that skepticism quickly vanished when I first handled the pomade. This is arguably one of the best pomades that I have ever used and I am grateful to continue being a customer for this pomade. Please do not change this pomade. It is perfect the way it is.

No longer one of my 3 favorite pomades, horrible itching
I have reviewed several pomades for men’s hair, many were not sufficient a hold for my hair or did not effectively help with my frizzy grey hair. I am 70 years old with salt and pepper hair and a more grey beard. I have now used 1/2 the bottle. My hair has lost color and soft curles. I can wear my hair curly or straight. My wife has seen me age over 1/3 century. When I compared Battle Born with my favorite Layrite Superhold or Suavecito my wife sees no difference. It does not hold quite as strong as the other two on the following days. However, it still makes my hair look as good as Layrite and I can put just a little on my hair. For so many reasons I have given them 5 stars. I ordered the all natural, small batch, natural shine, firm hold, water based pomade from Battle Born.I have decided to change my review because I have now used the entire bottle except for a little bit which I am throwing away. Every time I have use Battle Born grooming my scalp itches. The first time I assumed it wasn't the pomade. But now having used it every time compared to Layrite and Suavecito it is clear there is an ingredient that effects my scalp. I was not going to change the review but it is now unbelievable to use this product beyond 2 days. It looks great, but feels terrible on my scalp. It doesn't wash off like the other two I mentioned. I am disappointed that there is an ingredient that clearly affects my scalp. Also, I do not have sensitive skin or sensitive scalp. I also want to mention that it does an excellent job on my frizzy hair I wish they would do some thing to remove whatever is causing the itching.
