Non-Slip on countertop
The fact that the pastry mat is non-slip is a great plus when trying to roll out your dough. I have used plastic wrap and wax paper in the past to roll my dough out but prefer this since it has printed diameters and measurements on the mat. There is a pie crust recipe also printed on the mat. When cutting out cookies it's helpful to slip the mat in the refrigerator to keep the dough chilled until oven is free to cook the next batch.

Excellent Product
This pastry mat sticks to the counter but cookie dough lifts right off the top. Makes rolling out cookies less messy!

After installing a bamboo table top to my island
I installed using carpet tape to secure into position, now it protects my bamboo and is very handy to use

3 uses, and it split
I liked the idea of a USA made product, which is VERY hard to find. However, although I liked this one, and it worked well, after about 3 uses, it cracked in 3 separate locations. I just grabbed it out of the dish rack (not the dishwasher) to go and roll it up, and it bent backwards, and split in 3 different spots. It's useless now...I guess I will have to get one of those china ones :(

I was wrong
I made my initial review over a year ago and gave this 5 stars. Since then, I have changed my mind as to how good this mat is. This mat is not perfect. After a year it is in pretty bad shape. The paint has chipped away on the back so that it is difficult to read. Maybe I was expecting too much. Using this once or twice a moth may get longer life, but this is not for everyday use.

Big enough for rolling out super sized pie and tart crusts
This is a huge, plastic coated mat for manipulating dough on. It includes Beranbaum's current favorite pie crust recipe printed right on it. It has circular templates for up to 14-inch diameter roll outs. It washes clean by hand with soap/water. The backing is slightly sticky, but I usually have to weight the corners to keep it flat on my counter. I haven't tried wetting the back first, but that might help it adhere to my counter surface better. I have used a plastic, circular pie crust mat for years but have never found one this big. Although it's advertised to release the crust dough easily, I find it necessary to flour the surface or else I get some sticking of the dough to Beranbaum's mat.

Handle with Kid Gloves
Bought one mat and it arrived with a small cut along one edge, Amazon replaced it quickly. Then used it only 3-4 times for pie crust and cookies (gently using plastic cookie cutters). The mat did not adhere well to my wooden table during rolling. I rolled it up to store as a cylinder between uses, and I noticed a small piece cracked off the edge the next time I went to use it. It is rather brittle and not especially flexible and you absolutely cannot use metal cookie cutters on it or use anything sharp, even a butterknife, or you will leave a crease that is permanent. Dont even think about folding it or you will ruin it. On the positive side it is an excellent size but I have no patience for anything in the kitchen that will not take some wear and tear. I only bake during the holidays, so I hope I can get another season out of it.

like I do
If you have limited space, like I do, and a ceramic cooktop stove, this mat is great for covering the stovetop and making biscuit, etc.Answers my need beautifully!
