My boyfriend loves this book - so many classic and unique jazz covers of his favorite hits, he played it a good month and a half through Christmas. Beautiful renditions.

Not my favourite selection of tunes or arrangements

I didn't like the fact that the bulk of many of the pieces were not recognizable as being part of the song. Too many of the selections began with the titled tune then went into very long sections in which no part of the original song were included. The arranger would finally get back to the original tune at the end but in too many cases the new composition was longer than the tunes I bought the book for. I understand that jazz contains variations or riffs but they shouldn't be the bulk of the song. You want to write a totally new song? Write one but don't sell it to me as an old one.
