Appalachian Emporium's Premium Super Mix Fresh Live Moss for Terrariums, Vivariums, Bath Mats

This is so pretty with a selection of two or three moss types. I wanted to make a terrarium type of jar and I was looking for some moss varieties. I was so pleased when I recieved this. It came well packaged and every piece was alive and looking healthy. Additionally it was easy to work with and use for my project. Once I had spread it out and sorted the selection and green of the moss looked very much like what is pictured. Great mix and good quality. If I needed moss again, I would order this. Enjoy.

UPDATE: My original shipment of mosses from Appalachian Emporium is doing great and thriving in a variety of terrariums I've built, and I also used it to live plant enclosures for my crested geckos. Very happy with it. However, I reordered in early July and received a package not from Appalachian Emporium as I expected, but from "Cait's Carnivores" in New Jersey. It didn't include care instructions or anything like the original Appalachian packages did, and the moss arrived pretty dried out, though most of it seems to be bouncing back just fine in the new gecko enclosure I've planted it in. (Some of it is pretty brown, but I'm hoping it'll recover... it might have different preferences for growing conditions than the other moss it arrived with, I'm not sure. None of the varieties were labeled or anything.) It did arrive with a live spider in it which was quite a surprise :D but not totally unexpected with a product like this. This same seller is also the one who fulfills orders on another Amazon moss listing -- Fresh Mood Moss Perfect for Terrariums and Bonsai -- supposedly from a company called Glass Home Gardens. (It will say "Ships from and sold by zimmermannerick" instead, and you can't select the original seller to ship it to you.) So it seems like another Amazon seller is offering the "same" product, but in my opinion this shouldn't really be allowed... this listing is for moss specifically from Appalachian Emporium. The other listing shows specifically moss from and packaged by Glass Home Gardens. I come here to buy specifically from Appalachian because I know and trust their product. I received the product I ordered, just not who I thought I was ordering it from, and it's doing just fine so I'm not making an issue of it with Amazon, but I'm really disappointed that there seems to be so little transparency in who is selling on Amazon and that people are allowed to piggyback on other companies' listings like this. You can order directly from Appalachian Emporium normally, they have their own website (just search for it, you'll find it), but they appear to be all sold out at the moment, which might be why somebody else has swooped in to take over their listing. I don't know. I'm going to try Etsy instead; I've found a shop over there that lets you specifically pick your variety, offers free shipping, and has great prices. Beautiful collection of mosses, and generously portioned! I've been making a bunch of little closed terrariums, but the only live moss I can buy locally is sheet moss, so I wanted to get something different. This collection has a nice variety, came well packaged, and arrived in good condition. I particularly like the type of moss that kind of looks like sea grass, though I have no idea what any of these varieties are called, as I am terrible at all forms of botany. :D (The moss comes with some info on care and whatnot, but I'd LOVE it if in future they also included sheets telling you what kind of moss is in your package.) Ordered with another Appalachian Emporium pack and together they were more than enough to fill a 10-gallon fish tank I'm using as a moss terrarium.

Arrived half browned and dry, half green and moist. For $18, I'd expect better quality assurance for the quantity. That said, I only needed a very small bit for my project, so I got by. Attempting to revive the dry bits to see what I can salvage. Varieties received were meh; I'd have preferred to be able to either select between specific ones or getting a sampler with a wider range to test what works best in my setup. The clumps I got were all bioactive with small worms/insects, so I had to inspect them thoroughly before I put them in my terrarium to (try to) make sure there weren't any I didn't want to introduce to the setup; all were cross-contaminated and shipped in a single bag. Thankfully, I didn't find anything problematic. I would not recommend using these for bath mats, as so many buyers seem to be doing.

I am changing my review! This product was awesome at first. I loved it, and so did the habitants of the tank. The sellers give a detailed instruction manual for taking care of live moss that I followed. I have a bit of a green thumb, have my own indoor garden, and love growing my own stuff. Moss takes a long time to grow, so don't expect anything amazing to happen immediately. What you can expect is taking care of it exactly as instructed only to discover it is moldy and disgusting later. Again, I did exactly as told. I rinsed it off in an attempt to save it, but it was no use. The mold kept coming back, and it wasn't like I could dry it all out completely. I did let the sun blaze in on it for my last attempt at getting rid of the mold. That didn't matter. I didn't do my research on this, and I suffered by wasting my money. I suggest getting the natural dried moss. Your critters will like it more anyway.

Delivered very healthy, bright green moss. I'm using it in a bunch of terrariums and a paludarium. Its growing great. Only thing that would have been nice is to get the names of the different mosses included. I'm not a moss expert and I don't know the different names of the plants.

My moss arrived quickly and alive, but like a solid 50% of it was mood moss. (which if you are familiar, mood moss is about an inch thick, so this took up most of the bag and I didn't get as much coverage as I was hoping for out of the purchase)

I like the different variety of moss they sent. Packaged neatly and all moss was nice and green. I was hesitant to buy due to some negative reviews, but I'm so glad I made the purchase. I'll definitely be buying more from this seller.
