A fun gross-out book for young readers full of all kinds of interesting things about space travel
'To Burp or Not to Burp: A Guide to Your Body in Space' by real astronaut Dr. Dave Williams along with Loredana Cunti and illustrations by Theodore Key answers the really interesting questions about space travel, or at least the ones most kids are likely to ask. This book sets out to let the reader know about bodily functions in space. When you have less gravity, how do you eat, sleep and poop? What does brushing your teeth look like? Are you taller or shorter in space? What do you do if you're not hungry or you can't get rid of food you've eated? And the most important question: To Burp or Not to Burp? The answer to that one is "no" but I'll let you read the book to find out.Filled with illustrations and photos of astronauts and cosmonauts in space, it's just the sort of information I would have wanted when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I still want this kind of information, but I usually read Mary Roach (see 'Packing for Mars'}. For the younger, curious readers, this is filled with all kinds of interesting and gross information. Curiosity leads to adventure and discovery, according to Dr. Dave, and I agree with him.I received a review copy of this ebook from Annick Press Ltd. and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Great resource for kids interested in space! So fun and funny.
This book is terrific! It's full of all manner of interesting facts about space. Kids ages 6-10 will enjoy it immensely. It's broken down into sections by topic: going to the bathroom, eating in space, bathing in a microgravity environment, etc. We understand a world with gravity, but Dr. Dave knows that kids have many questions about how things work in space where there is no gravity.Since the author is an astronaut, the answers come from first hand experience. The pages of the book are laid out with small snippets of information inside boxes, so it can be read through cover to cover or picked up and read out of order one box at a time. All of the questions and answers center around Dr. Dave's experience on the International Space Station. It's fascinating and funny! There are quirky illustrations and many photographs to accompany the information, so no page seems too heavy with information. This book was definitely written with kids in mind. It covers everything, and the answers are incredibly blunt and honest. It's well organized, and the pages are well laid out. The back of the book has suggestions for further reading and a full index. For kids interested in space, or even just how our bodies work, this book is a great resource.Blog: Mom's Radius

Answered all my questions!
Okay, the truth is I chose this book because I wanted to know the answer to how you go to the bathroom in space, and now I know! This book answers all the questions that curious kids and adults have always wanted to know. First up, the potty. Then bathing, teeth brushing, picking your nose, exercising, sleeping, eating and burping. Who knew burping in space was dangerous? It is amazing how things are different in space because of low gravity. The book shows actual pictures taken on the space station of astronauts eating, sleeping etc... There are pictures of space toilets, urine tubes, and sleep bags, all the cool stuff you want to see. I wish the pictures were a bit bigger, but the illustrations do a good job showing you what the actual photos can not.I was very impressed with this book. It answered all my questions with true facts and details. Embarrassing subjects were covered without bad humor, but educationally and with easy explanations for kids. I think there could have been better layouts, but overall it is a fun, educational and quirky book. Kids will love it! 4 stars!

Poor binding
Content is good. But book binding was glues and whole pages came out one by one on the first day itself.
