DOES LITTLE ON CIGAR SMOKE!
Very pricey--as are the "smoker filters." My husband smokes cigars on an enclosed porch (windows can be opened when weather permits) and the smell nearly gags me. Part of the addition project was that I insisted there had to be a way to spare guests and me from the stogey stench that goes along with cigar smoke. We buy the right filters but the room gets smokey and the windows have to washed on the inside more than the outside! My husband has placed the Blueair in different locations, hoping the unit will pull in more smokey air--it is currently up on a stand he decided might increase purification. Nope--doesn't seem to have solved the problem. Blueair recommends changing the filters every 6 months. The unit must be "filtering" because the filters (3) are filthy-dirty after three. When we went searching for a purifier, I insisted it had to be industrial--like for a cigar bar. My husband spoke with customer service at Blueair and we thought we were buying the real deal. I know I smell of smoke when I leave the room--and it breaks my heart to think of what guests have to say after leaving our home. Our last home had an electronic air scrubber--the (2) filters were about shoe-box sized and could be washed in the sink. At least I had the pleasure of seeing the tarry crap float into the water. This is one man smoking cigars! Why this pricey unit can't even stay ahead of that one man's smoke is beyond me. LOOK ELSEWHERE. If it's dust and a hidden cat box, it might be of some benefit, but as a smoke eater, it's a dud.

Quiet and worth every penny.
I've had a Blueair 505 for over three months now in my bedroom to help resolve issues of congestion while sleeping. It has worked flawlessly, is whisper-quiet at low speeds (full speed isn't bad, either!), and it will also purify the adjoining recreation room's air if I leave the bedroom door open and run it at full speed. I'm now considering the purchase of one or two more for the remaining living areas. In my opinion, the Blueair 505 is worth every penny.

Defective Design
My Blueair air "purifier" machine contaminated my bedroom with mold! This can happen as follows:1) Air enters the Blueair machine unfiltered, passes through the metal grills that support the filters, and exits the Blueair machine:a) through the filters; andb) unfiltered, through the GAPS between the filters.2) Dust accumulates and is trapped in the Blueair machine on the metal grills. Much of the surface of the grills is inaccessible to clean, and the Blueair maintenance instructions say nothing about having to clean the grills.3) Mold grows in dust.4) Air passing through the Blueair machine is contaminated by the mold in the dust trapped on the metal grills and may or may not be filtered as the air exits the Blueair machine. When I discovered the problem, I attempted to clean the grills in my Blueair using special vacuum attachments, but was unsuccessful. I strongly believe that this machine is dangerous to your health!

A++ I bought the optional super duper filters for smoke/gases/VOC etc
Bought this about 6 weeks ago. Fan started making awful noises. Contacted them and they had a new one out in just a few days Return Fedex label cost me nothing to return. Customer service? A++ I bought the optional super duper filters for smoke/gases/VOC etc. This thing is a beast. Might cost too much for the average joe but it's well worth the money. Performance? A++
