Review: So much more than a cookbook - Iโm really impressed with this book. Itโs great for anyone who loves cooking or wants to learn, because it covers so much more than recipes. The Cooking Basics section alone walks through kitchen equipment, knife skills, food safety, seasoning, and how to prepare different ingredients. Then there are chapters on everything from vegetables and soups to meat, seafood, bread, and desserts. The explanations are detailed and easy to follow, with plenty of step-by-step photos. Itโs a large, beautifully printed book that feels like a resource Iโll keep coming back to. Iโd happily give it as a gift to someone who enjoys cooking, but itโs also a lovely book to have in my own kitchen. Highly recommend! Review: Highly recommended. - Very well written book, very clear. Chefs with different specialties write each lesson. Great tested recipes. Lots of accompanying recipes for sauces, compound butters, salad dressings etc for various dishes (e.g accompanying sauces for steak, fish etc.) Comprehensive content, clearly written, fully illustrated in color with photos throughout. Beautiful book to learn from, use for everything and keep.

Extremely Helpful
This book has been a game changer!! While this is an excellent book for beginners, it has SO much to offer a long time cook. It doesn't just give you recipes but also the how and why of different techniques and ingredients. I had no idea poaching my salmon would elevate it to fine dining!!! It is worth every penny!! I highly recommend!!

5/5 culinary school at home the best cookbook I seen thus far relating to information on how to cook
Beautiful cookbook honestly it's huge it's heavy it has so much information would recommend if you are learning how to cook however I have found that even if something doesn't work you still learn a nice little tip that would help you in some other way for example I have not tried everything in the book I've only tried the boiling egg method for me that method did not work at all, my eggs had semi soft undercooked yolks however, your eggs are actually supposed to be slightly undercooked and that is considered a perfect egg in the culinary world for me I like my boiled eggs hard boiled well done cooked yolk so for me that didn't work however there was a tip in the book that I did learn that actually did help me when it came to Boiling eggs. I had a problem before where I could not tell if the eggs were fully cooked or not so I had a hard time peeling the eggs which made the process of having to peel the eggs very annoying however in the book it does give you a little tip that says if your eggs are hard to peel their undercooked (the membrane will stick to the shell if it is undercooked) if the eggs are fully cooked through the membrane will release from the shell and it will peel off so easily. I have experimented with this and that is in fact what happens and it has made boiling eggs and peeling the eggs so much faster/easier whenever I have trouble peeling them I know it's undercooked and I will put it to boil for a couple minutes more until I see that it's easy to peel and every single time the egg is fully cooked so I would recommend this book there's a lot to learn I just wish that some of the recipes were a little bit better but this is culinary with fancy foods definitely worth the money for all the knowledge and tips you would get from a culinary school at home it also comes with free online lessons for the first 2 months I believe.

Wow. This might be one of the only cookbooks Iโll ever need.
I just got this today and it is a treasure. I seriously cannot believe the amount of information in this book. Itโs huge and it weighs a ton. And there are so many beautiful photos and loads of information to look at and read. Iโm amazed! Iโm mid-50s, a home cook. Letโs just say that I still have hurdles to overcome regarding cooking, I wasnโt role-modeled correctly and have some anxiety issues when it comes to culinary skills. I always had a feeling that cooking was a chore and not a pleasant one, and unfortunately it shows in my end product. Sometimes cooking IS a chore (when the work of decision, shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning mainly falls on one person, I mean) or Iโm feeling out of sorts and motivation is low, but weโre talking every meal was an absolute struggle. Iโm not going to blame anymore, Iโm taking the reins, and u-turning that pointer finger that I point at someone else to blame and pointing it right back at ME. I can turn out a well-rounded dinner but itโs never something that happens organicallyโฆitโs hit-or-miss due to lack of technique or mt nerves. So I still have much to learn. But itโs never too late! I look forward to trying some of the recipes out soon! The only issue I noticed is that thereโs a QR code for two months of culinary info and lessons offeredโฆwhen I tried to get the two month trial it was a few weeks. Iโm going to contact the 1-800 number to ask what happened to that, because thatโs quite a difference, and Cookโs should honor what they offered on the book.

Disappointing
It seems to assume that certain kitchen appliances will be owned and, in all honesty, the recipes really didn't wow me. Also, I felt that each section being written by a different person made the book hang more as a collection of articles than a cohesive book - needed tighter overall editing. Given away within a week of purchase. Much better "cookery tutorial" books out there. Overpriced!

A wealth of knowledge
I purchased the book for a work friend who has just gotten married and is learning to cook and I think I did very well. I only had a little while to leaf through, but even though I would consider myself quite a skilled chef, I still learned many things from the brief time I spent with it. I was a little surprised by the lay out at first, but in time it made complete sense. The book is laid out in such a way that it starts with the basics and then offers multiple recipes that encourage you to build on your skills and confidence. My friend is very happy with the book and I am sure she will be quite accomplished in the kitchen by their 5th Anniversary, as for myself, I am thinking of ordering the "Advanced Skills" book for myself.

Very instructive cookbook
One of the best cookbooks - instructive and with a very nice layout. However, the paper quality is sup-par - so thin that you can see the other side of a page shining through. Be careful when you flip a page -you might bend it easily. Get the kindle version to avoid this. Measurements are imperial only.
