Very sharp and produces quite thin rectangles of cheese which is good but if you want something thicker make sure you keep your old grater. Its still a great product though and well made and sturdy in the hands and easy to use

Well the product designers seem to have achvied something here:1. Comfortable to use - noThe plastic handles have a nasty seam line that is most sharp. Someone had the idea of embosssing the company name on the handle, also making it uncomfortable to hold.2. Easy to assemble/ disassemble - noThe removable insert is very tight fitting, I am not sure what the recommended way of removing it would be.3. Item without sharp metal edges - noI cut my finger in the sharp metal insert edge.4. Easy to clean - noThere are curved edges where the metal meets, the handles are hollow and fill with water as you clean it.5. Sturdy in use - noThe metal bends when you squueze the handles6. Effective - noI found 50% of the garlic comes out through the grate, the other 50% squashes past the poorly fitting plunger and squidges up the sides.My cheaper and similar garlic press from a well known Scandinavian store performs much better, is easier to clean and does not bend. It even has handles that are smooth and do not have anyware for food to sneak into.I would give it a miss, overpriced and extremely badly designed for something which should be simple to achieve.

Bought for a friend. She is more than pleased. Good buy.
