Great humidifier!
Easy to use. Works great! A little hard to clean. Several internal pieces to take apart and put back together.

Well worth the cost
I live just outside of Las Vegas, the dryness here is unreal at times and I have been in desperate need of a strong humidifier. I had a small one that my friend gave me, but the hard water here destroyed it after 2 months of use.I needed something that I could have run all night as that's when the dryness causes me most discomfort. The tank on this humidifier is large enough to keep going for well over 8 hours so I never have to worry about waking up to an empty machine. The included hard water filter cartridge lasted me around 3 months. Which is good since I had to order replacements directly from Honeywell's website. If you have hard water I very much recommend getting the filter cartridges. The amount of humidity this puts out at full blast is impressive and I often sleep with it pointed directly at me. But even at the half-way setting it gets enough moisture into the air to be of help.

So far it’s great!
Just received it this Honeywell humidifier today and set it up immediately because the house gets so dry with the furnace going everyday in our Michigan winter. We have humidifiers in the bedrooms but didn’t have one in our 350 sf living room and we were getting shocks when we pet the dogs so we really need this. It’s easy to set up: first remove the water canister, then make sure you snap in the float paddle at the bottom of the case before using, then re-insert the water canister, then fill with water, plug in and turn the knob to the desired degree of mist: I put it in high right away to eliminate the dry air and static electricity, and it really pumps out a heavy mist, then I turned it to medium after a few hours. It’s been on all afternoon now and I can rub my dogs fur with no static, so I know it’s working as it should. I placed it on a small decorative table 20” off the ground in a corner facing out toward the room which is probably why it’s humidifying the room so well. It has vents at the bottom so it needs to be placed a foot or two off the floor. I give it an A+ for simplicity of use: top fill which is great, and just turn the knob and you’re all set!** Yes, it makes a continual dripping/waterfall sound but I like this feature because it reminds me of our outdoor fountain and the sound is very soothing and harmonious to me, however, that wouldn’t do well at all in a bedroom where the sound might keep you awake. If I run into issues with it I’ll revise my review, but for now I give it a 4 only because this is the first day of using it, if it’s still working this well in March I’ll revise it to a 5!

Better than most
I live in Las Vegas and its really dry here year-round. I use this at night to raise the humidity in my bedroom. I have used many humidifiers and really like the ultrasonic ones. This particular one has been used daily for 2 months now and is still working, unlike the one we bought from Homedics, which lasted about 5 weeks. Its really easy to fill. I will always buy a top fill like this in the future. The ones you fill the tank from the bottom are a pain if you have to do it every day. The only reason this one gets 4 instead of 5 stars is the light on the power switch. Its REALLY bright in a dark bedroom. Other humidifiers have a setting that allows you to turn the light off. In addition, it doesn't have as big an output as some others we have used. I have a hygrometer in the bedroom, so I can see how much the humidity is raised by each of the various humidifiers I have purchased.

Top fill humidifier is so much easier to refill!
I love this humidifier! I can just pour water into the top with a picture instead of carrying it to the kitchen sink or tub to refill it. The water container lifts out if the humidifier so if you prefer to refill it at a tub or sink you can, but I far prefer pouring water in at the top using a pitcher. It is silent except for occasional sound of water droplet dripping inside back into the water.Part of the container has a clear window so you can see the water level but at night I can’t see it without shining a flashlight on the window. I can also lift up the lid to see the water level. My only concern is that cool mist humidifiers take longer to raise the humidity in a room than the hot mist humidifiers. That’s because hit mist evaporates faster than cool mist. I use this cool mist Honeywell model in my bedroom and bought a Honeywell warm/hot mist model for my very large family room/kitchen area. Very pleased with both models.

Fairly quiet, effective, easy to fill
EDIT: Had it for about a year, and it still works fine. Make sure not to fill tank more than about 3/4 full - it seems to stop working until you pour off some excess water. The Honeywell Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier is simple to use, is fairly quiet, and is an effective room humidifier. The required assembly was minimal, just snapping the float into place so as to guarantee that the unit would shut off once the water dropped below a certain level. The tank can be removed for filling under a faucet, or can be filled while positioned in the unit. The periodic cleaning involves a two-step process using vinegar and (separately) bleach, but if your water is not particularly high in dissolved mineral content, this should not be necessary as often as is recommended. Or, distilled water can be used. The humidifier is advertised as being "ultra-quiet", but while it is operating there are occasional dripping noises which are apparently normal; some people may be more disturbed by this than by a constant low fan or white noise, which is more common with other types of humidifiers. Personally, it reminds me of rain in a tropical rainforest, and I find it relaxing and less obtrusive than a fan. No regular drip-drip-drip, which I would find excruciating! We had it running for about 8 hours and the water level in the tank did not drop below half-way, so it appears that the device will easily run all night (perhaps as much as a full day) without needing to be refilled.
