Item not as manufacturer recommends
Manufacturers recommended age says 36 months to 12 years so we placed an order for our 5yr old grandaughter. It's arrived saying for 8 years upwards on the box which means it will probably be too difficult for her. Bit deceiving and disappointing.

Missing One Thing, But Otherwise it's Better than the Original
As a child I had a Pocket Spirograph which accompanied me everywhere. It was a neat little clutch bag shaped box which fanned out to reveal the pens, post-it notes and wheels inside. This one is a bigger and better version of that one. It's huge!! In comparison though, it's not designed to carry around with you unless you transfer the contents into a special box. This box is the size of a board game box, the likes of Monopoly. The contents have changed a lot since back when I was young. Here's what's inside:• 19 Spirograph Precision Wheels• 2 Spirograph Precision Rings• 1 Spirograph Precision Rack• 17 oz (5g) of Reusable Spirograph Putty• 3 Design Pens• 14-Page Guide Book• 20 Sheets of Design Paper• 1 Storage tray which is nothing more than the heat-sunk tray, the like of which you find in any board game box holding the pieces in place. So compared to the now retro original version from my youth,◇ this one has three pens instead of two.◇ It also has a huge range of wheels to choose from, mine had five in the retro version.◇ you also get 3 different frames - two rings and a rack - with mine, I was limited to using the lift of the cluth box, which meant the only paper that was suitable was Post-it notes.◇ with this version, we are able to use any type of paper we want. We simply use any one of three frames as a "stencil" to create designs using one of the 19 included wheels.◇ This set also includes putty which I've never seen before. It adds a whole new dimension to what is a true original classic that and budding little artist would love. Our six year old has taken to it like duck to water...of course her creations still have room for improvement.5 stars

What Goes Around... Finally Comes Around! An Enjoyable Blast From The Past For Adults & Their Kids
I remember really wanting a Spirograph set when I was a child growing up in the 80's! Sadly it was never to be.Anyway I was so pleased to get the opportunity to get this and also to be able to show it to my daughters. Everything is included in the set to make the beautiful patterns using the rotational spirograph tool/method. They are fascinated by it.If want to either relive your childhood, or teach the current generation of kids what entertainment was like before tablets and phones, this is a blast from the past!

Retro fun
In the late Seventies/early Eighties I had a second hand Spirograph set when I was a child, handed down from our neighbour's older children. I adored it, and this kit took me right back!I remember the box being bigger somehow, but all the components were there, plus some extra shapes. Rather than the pins to hold the rings, there is some tacky putty, which is easier and safer. The technique of making the designs is straightforward, and similar to making mandalas so quite mindful and relaxing. Modern fine tip pens are so much easier to use meaning the designs come out well.Love it!

A wonderful retro toy
I had no idea until recently that this wonderful drawing toy was still being made - as a youngster I had one in the 1970s!Our granddaughter Martha Rose has been beavering away with this for over two hours today, producing lots of great designs, which are easy to do - but look fantastic.I’m sure any child (8+) would be delighted to receive this as as a gift at any time. And when our granddaughter’s not looking, I’m quietly going to use it to relive my past…

Great Gift!
Good quality small version of original Spirograph. Lights and spinning give it a unique twist. Just remember it is a much smaller version but works just fine.
