The Tudor era springs to life in Marcia Williams’s lively account, written and illustrated in her signature comic-book style. Travel back to Tudor times with Arthur Inkblott, Queen Elizabeth I’s favorite scribe, and his pet ferret, Smudge, who lives (and offers commentary) in the margins of the book. Meet the handsome and headstrong Henry VIII and his six wives, as well as the clever and beautiful Elizabeth I, who politely refused entreaties to marry. Fight the Spanish Armada, sail across the Atlantic with Christopher Columbus, and spend time with the Tudor common folk, who offer their own take on what life was like in these times. Packed with jokes, colorful illustrations, and fascinating facts, this informative and entertaining comic-strip history showcases the work of Marcia Williams at her very best. Review: Very thin book - I purchased the hardcover of this book. Even though it is very thin (only 20 pages) I thought $19 was too much.A total rip-off in my opinion. My fault for not reading further on this item. It is illustrated very well & so cute however because it is about Henry the VIII court & time it does show the cute little characters (due to their crimes- as punishment) in the pillory also hanging & burned at the stake. Not kidding! But you make that determination for your own kids of course! I just wanted to let others know! Review: Beatifully illustrated! - Great for 10 & under to learn Shakespeare!

Well laid out and delightfully informative
Delightfully informative, the genius of this book is in its clever layout. Royals are covered in the large middle section. Lower class life is appropriately described in a narrow band at bottom of each page. Lots of fun facts about ferrets (animals from which ermine pelts were made, which only kings and queens were allowed to wear) are in the margins, as well as commentary and questions that young readers enjoy answering with their parents. Pretended to buy this book for my seven-year old for Christmas. Was really buying it for myself. A GREAT READ for parents to introduce their children to late 15th-16th century English history.

Fun to read and teaching mummy too!
What a lovely book! My kid is learning about Tudors at school, so I thought I’d get her a book to supplement her learning. What a find! It was second-hand but in perfect condition. Ex-library. Does the job.
