Q: is silver actually white?

I should have read this post. Mine is light gray too, not white ;(

Q: Does these sit at the waist? kind of annoying they don't mention this. And are the legs tapered?

Yes, they come up to my waist and the legs are tapered slightly. They do not hug my calf. I like the way these pants fit. I hope that helps.

Q: Do the dark colored chinos fade quickly?

Not at all. My Son's are for work and I have washed them several times. They have actually held up better than some of the more expensive pants he owns. I will buy more in other colors.

Go with what you wear in a dress pant size, not a jean size. I wear a 31" 32" in jeans. In this slim fit cut I wear 33" 30" and they are perfect. I'm 5'10, 170
