I picked up this butane torch lighter, marketed primarily for cooking purposes, as a toy for my husband, but let’s be honest, it’s so much more than that. Works well but very dangerous If not locked. I burned my leg because it was in my pocket and it ignited without me pressing on it. Ouch!

I like this lighter it's very powerful, maybe even a little too powerful. But it's good to use and pretty sturdy even bigger than I thought it was. Now refilling the thing is a little touch and go the best way to do it is through quick bursts when refilling instead of a steady spray. Outside of that I may revise my review as time progresses, but for now solid lighter.

I'm not even joking. The item is sleek and makes for a wonderful gift. Powered the thing with butane and boy can it produce some serious flame! On full setting, I swear the thing goes out at least 6 inches. Had to taper it down to a bit under medium in order to use for regular purposes. If anyone had doubts about this torch, I no longer count myself as one of them. This thing is powerful, hefty, and appears to be extremely durable. The only downsides I see is that there is no fuel indicator and that the nozzles that come with the torch do not fit on my specific butane tank. Neither of those deter from the fact that this is by far the best handheld torch I've ever used.

The long flame length is a big plus for me. Yes, with gas fully on, the flame lenght is 7+ inches long. notably longer than even a full size propane torch flame. I use this at work to light off a 6" propane burner. The long flame allows me to reach the gas control across the chamber and the large flame size keeps this from getting blown out but the burner air. Normally two people are needed to light this off so really a plus to be able to light solo. I can see it also being great to light off a grill, either a gas one or brickets, even in pretty windy conditions. It certainly has a potent enough flame to braze or sweat pipes with. I have not tried that though so can't say if would hold up long term to the extended run times when doing that compared to what it was intended for. I don't see any design weaknesses though to cause a problem with that but thinking that was not the design intent for this. It's compact size would be a plus for that though. Note also, you can throttle the flame way back to that of a conventional lighter (as shown in the image above or smaller if desired) so would still be fine to light candles etc with. Even the packaging was nice. Makes a really nice protective container for it. This is a great value as well priced where it is.

Had it for a day now. Love the design, it feels lighter than it looks.Feels sturdy and couldn't find any wobbly parts. For 15 dollars, it's looks good.Performance wise..So far, have the refueling issues where it's leaking/spraying everywhere. I saw a video where you're supposed to align it and push gently/not go full open. Will try that when I get off of work.On high settings, it shoots huges flames. Although its glorious, I wanted a torch. This may be due to air getting into the system. I do shake it a bit while lit and it seems to get the air our and it does work as intended.Medium seems to work well, low doesn't seem to have the pressure needed to light.I will be trying the "new" refueling method when I get home to see if works any better.. although I have my doubts.
