Is the brush roller very hard, or soft? I am looking for a vacuum cleaner for my wool carpets, and it should not be hard, and ideally can be adjusted.

The brush on the roller is hard. As a matter of intrest to you, I have tried both Bissell and Eureka and all are hard brushes on the roller. I have looked at others st Costco and they are all hard. But in their defense, the brushes are short and less than half inch. They have to be stiff to btudh the carpet. I would recommend a Oreck Plus for what you need.
