Very pleased - very quiet
I needed 31 band stereo EQ for my home studio. This is excellent and well worth the price. Please note that it is designed for pro audio specs and uses 1/4 TRS connectors. Home theater folks shouldn't be put off though, in MOST cases it will work fine using RCA to 1/4" adapters. Read on if you are a musician or studio type person.I ordered TRS patch cables long enough for my setup, but in the meantime just wired it up with plain old 1/4" guitar type cords. It is utterly silent. Unity gain (setting INPUT to 0) is spot on and metering INPUT or OUTPUT is helpful. Obviously bypass is essential for A-B comparison and the meters are truthful. e.g. If I set the EQ unit's INPUT to 0dB (no yellow clip lights on EQ) , then my Zoom R24 will show healthy input level but will NOT clip the definitive red clip light on the R24. The sliders are silent and the range can switch from 6 dB to 12 dB, although I just leave mine on 12 dB.As I understand it, the unit's LOW CUT should be turned hard left and the HIGH cut should be turned hard right to remove those filters from the audio chain. I did not mess with the subwoofer output as I listen through full range studio monitors but if a sub is needed the low cut filter on front as well as the crossover (XOVER) knob on the back of the EQ should make setup very easy.I only wish it would it would combine/convert stereo input to MONO and control both with one set of EQ sliders but a workaround is easy and the lack of this feature is not a deal breaker.Happy Trails!

Pretty solid- but a bit noisy.
I have just been playing with this EQ for a week or so- and I am very impressed with this dual-channel EQ so far. It's a great deal for the price- and sound-wise it does a great job of allowing you to dial in very precisely on frequency bands that needs boosts or cuts in your signal. I've experimented with using it in two ways, both on the input signal pre-production in my DAW as well as sending a signal out to it from the DAW and capturing back the outputted signal from the EQ. It does a good job on both, but definitely does better in my testing on the front-end.I do notice a couple of cons though- the knobs and sliders all do feel on the cheap/flimsy side as some toher reviewers have noted. I don't really fault that considering the price point of the unit. For my purposes, it's fine for home recording and possibly some live sound applications. If you're looking for something for surviving the brutality of road environments, this unit is probably not a good match.I'm only just getting into analog audio devices, so partially I assume some of the sound issues are due to my own inexperience than necessarily the unit itself. That said- it does seem to me that this unit introduces some noise into the signal chain, and it's enough to notice and be annoying. I have been cleaning it up in post-production easily enough- but it's worth calling out.All in all, I would definitely recommend this as a great option for folks using it in a home recording context. I probably wouldn't recommend it for use in a professional context, using it on the road with heavy wear/tear, or home audio purists looking to use it to clean up a hi-fi signal.

be sure to order correct cables CPR-201
EQ works just fine, had problems getting correct cables for my usage, no doubt the reason why cables are not supplied with this unit as i may be used in several different ways with different equipment. to use with a stereo amplifier,... first of all your amp must have a "tape2 in-out" ports on rear of unit,.. if not,..... no dice. if it does you need 2 sets of HOSA TECHNOLOGY DUAL 1/4"TS to DUAL RCA CABLES, AT LEAST 3' LONG. REMEMBER 2 SETS, TOTAL OF 4 CABLES,then its plug and play, they are very inexpensive from amazon. also set dial on reciever to tape2 selection.

5 Stars
This is a great product at a reasonable price. The 31 bands on the equalizers allowed for a better sound quality. My speakers definitely sounded like it was newer when using the Rockville REQ231 dual 31 band 1/3 octave graphic equalizer with sub-output. Speaking of the sub output, that addition was a very pleasant bonus to have since not that many other brands include it.Perhaps something to improve on is indicating where the bypass switch are and what a crossover filter switch does to those keen with professional equalizers. Otherwise great job, Rockville.

Most Precise Tone Control at this Price Point
Make sure the output meters stay green, rarely bumping yellow if any. If you do this, this thing is amazing. The amount or control you have over the tone of the signal is unparalleled at this price. I use this for my bass, and I could not be happier. I tested the sound quality with my phone and a speaker, and the quality seems to be a good 9/10. The loss in quality is very small, almost unnoticeable. It actually might just be placebo. For an instrument, the tone possibilities are endless!

Bang for the buck
Ordered this to correct some EQ issues with a Proeck speaker system (sub had no oomph). This completely brought teh sub to life and let me tweak the high end to my listening satisfaction. Adding this in between my mixer and the $550 PA system made it sound better than much of my older more expensive JBL and EV speaker setups.Pros:XLR balanced I/O, Dual 31 band EQ, +6 or +12 db gain/cut per bandCons,SUB output didn't do what I expected . 1/4" and XLR's don't seem to be active at the same time. Power supply needs to be beefier and with a cable cord lock (or at least a place for tie wrap to the cord) on the back of the unit. Cord falls out too easily.
