Provo Craft Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder, Swiss Dots

I broke my Cuttlebug using this rubber mat and I imagine it was my own fault. It made it too thick to push through the cuttlebug. Perhaps I should have gone online to see a videop. I probably needed to leave off one of the other pads.

I ordered this mat after using Spellbinders small embossing mat that I totally destroyed when I put too many shims in and cut thru the mat completely. I was happy to find that Cricut had come out with their own embossing mat so I ordered it. Not only does it leave a terrible film on the B plate, make sure you use a piece of paper underneath and on top of what you are embossing or the film gets all over your cardstock also, it slides and at times squishes out of shape the item being embossed.

I do not think this product performs as describe. It is not self healing, nor does it state that it is, I took if for granted being a Cricut product it would be. There is not much of difference when using or not. I have used regular craft foam and it worked better. With the craft foam, I was able to see the difference in the embossing.

I did not have one of these when I first got my Cuddlebug. I've been using some layers of paper to "shim" the plates to a thickness that works for either embossing or die cutting. The first time I tried to use one of these, I could not get the plates loaded into my Cuddle-bug. The bundle was too thick! I will try again, but may have to go back to my low-tech paper solution.

I bought this so that I could pressure emboss embossable dies in my old Quickcuts Epic Six machine which was out long before the embossing dies came out. It works well enough, but it's so dense that it doesn't emboss as deeply as the mat that came with my Spellbinders Prizm machine. I'll probably replace it with Spellbinders pads eventually & use this for something else.

I have a number of dot-style folders, but this is the prettiest.(IMHO) It goes with every theme and impresses all papers clearly. I've used it for sunny cards and for snowy themes. My favorite results are by using good quality white cardstock, but I have experimented with colors and cheapie paper with similar (but not quite as nice) success. Coated cardstock may crack when embossed so I stick with uncoated most of the time. TIP: if you have a smudged paper, instead of tossing it, just smudge it a bit more and emboss. It goes from disappointing to almost spectacular.

I orered this because I do not have a C plate for my Cuttlebug. In the description of the product it states you do not need the C plate, however, it does not work with dies wothout a C plate. So i would just caution that if you are using it to cut with dies without a C plate it will not work.

What a huge help! Works great. And I'd also like to add; even if you don't use this little mat much, it's nice to know you have it, just in case. When I first bought my Cuttlebug machine, being brand new to card making, I had no idea I'd need this and the C plate. After seeing some projects that called for these two items, I decided to go ahead and get both. Now, when a project calls for the C plate or the little mat, I have them! :-) Oh and get the metal plate too!!!
