Great closet deodorizer, a little pricey
I discovered this product at Wal-Mart when my mother was selling her house. She had mothballs in every closet, and neither my sister nor I could ever convince her to stop. But then we got feedback from an Open House that a client loved the home, but was sensitive / allergic to many chemicals / odors and was afraid she would not be able to get rid of the strong smell of mothballs and cedar out of the house. That finally did it - she was willing to purge all mothballs and some of the worst smelling linens that had been stored enclosed in mothballs. I searched online for what to do to get the residual odor out and found that dry activated charcoal had worked for others, in addition to airing out the house which we had been doing. It does take time - this is not an overnight fix - but these did the trick.I bought out 2 Wal-Marts and still needed more, so I found and ordered more on Amazon. These were about twice the price I paid at Wal-Mart. That's the only reason I give these 4 stars instead of 5. You may be able to find a better deal locally.

Capable car-freshener
We bought a used vehicle in the last few months and, of course, one of the issues someone else's old car presented us was a stale, air-freshener resistant odor. No matter how long we left the windows open or what other products we tried--and we tried many, the offensive odor lingered. We even tried a $200 overnight ozone treatment on top of a thorough interior detail to no avail. Our search for a solution lead us to activated charcoal, and the Willert Closet Deodorizer. Within a day of placing this neat, secure charcoal packet in the auto most of the odor was tamed. Although there remains an underlying odor, it's far better than the result from any of the other treatments we'd tried. If Willert can tame the accumulated decade-old odors of a used car, I'd feel confident recommending it for a typical closet. Our family will be buying more--for our car, home, and office needs. And in case you're wondering, it's now been about three months since we originally bought the Willert deodorizer. Still working.

... in my closet had recently began to acquire a foul aroma. I have tried air fresheners
I recently order 2 of these deodorizers as the shoes and clothes in my closet had recently began to acquire a foul aroma. I have tried air fresheners, and hanging deodorizers but none of these had any effect. Recently (at the request my girlfriend), I sought to do another round of searching for a product that would help eliminate the odors and not just mask the smells. After reading the review for this product, I made my purchase, and let me tell you this product is magic. After 3 days, there was no odor in the closet, from shoes, clothes, or even residual odors from other product I had used. The air was fresh. My closet measures about 5 feet wide, so I ordered two. Some notes about the product, make sure to tear off the foil that covers the top of the charcoal base (you will need to remove the blue cap to do so). Additionally, as some others have noted, I anticipate that this product will need to be replace every 4-6 months after use. Recommended product for all those with closet aroma issues

Advertise germ and virus and smell removal capabilities especially in hospitals and bathrooms and sanitation areas
These days it's too strong and too concentrated years ago it was not this strong. Also I used to volunteer at a hospital and two members of my family had pancreatic cancer and this was the only product that we get the smell out and I looked and looked for years regarding the smell and the germs so you need to advertise that they should be used in hospitals and trusted in hospitals bathrooms and really grimy germ Laden situations. If you did that your product would really expand not to mention you would be doing these hospitals a great service in contamination and germ prevention germ removal and prevention of viruses spreading.

Great for the litter box and musty-garage-smell
We have our litter box in an enclosed space. We have two cats. And yet, our house never smells like cat. We just put one of these in the closet, very near the box, and we have no odor problems at all. I replace them probably every other month.I inherited a bunch of neat stuff from my grandparents' garage; after thirty-odd years of storage the musty smell was remarkable. I put things in a plastic storage bin with one of these and forgot about it for about a month; when I came back the smell was a lot better. Not totally gone, but enough that you have to get right up to the items to notice. I have a second round going and I feel pretty good about what the outcome will be.

Keeps the "man-shoe" smell down in a small closet!
This is my second purchase of these filters. I was looking for something to freshen up the smallish closet that my husband uses. He has quite a few pairs of shoes, and it gets a little "whiffy" in there sometimes. I hung up two of these in his closet and the shoe odor dissipated within 24 hours. The lasted about 4 months. Just purchased two more to keep things fresh in there.

does the trick for closets
The main reason I used this is to take any potential for stink away from the closet that I put my gym clothes & gym shoes in. So far this deodorizer has done it's job and I am on my second purchase of these after the first 3 months or so. I don't know if I would trust this to do something heavy like cat litter but I may give it a shot and see.

Works well, bit pricey
I love that these are unscented and they do a good job. My only complaint is that the price tag keeps hiking. I’d try something else but everything on the market is heavily scented these days.
