Turn the silver knob above the handle. That will hold the stream without you holding the handle.

Q: Included was an extra black rubber round and small white round piece. What are these for?

Both are extra parts. The white round rubber piece is a gasket for the nozzle behind the faceplate you rotate for different spray patterns. Replace this gasket when water leaks from behind the faceplate by removing the screw in the center of the faceplate. The black rubber round piece is a gasket for the hose connection.

It seems to be ok - I thought mine leaked, but I found a washer in the box that wasn't in place on the nozzle. I haven't used it since I found it, but think that will stop the leak.
