Capable Machine with few flaws
I am about to start school in August for an Electrical Engineering degree and have a decent background with building my own PC's.When you buy a laptop it's very important to look at EVERY aspect of it's performance since you'll likely be unable or unwilling to upgrade the internal parts later without a lot of unnecessary hassle. That being said here are the things I love about this laptop,256GB Storage space: Admittedly this isn't the BEST in the market, however considering how thin and attractive this PC is and the price point, i'm very happy with it. BONUS: ALL of the memory on this pc is SSD storage which means increased performance and cooler/quieter running.8GB of RAM: I run Photoshop for my personal/professional life. so having the extra RAM to process all my brushstrokes and effects makes this a MUST. anything 4 and under just doesn't cut it if you have lengthy projects to work on.Intel Core i5-7200U: Again another category where you get the best of both worlds, this is both inexpensive and performs well on many benchmarks. It's no powerhouse for gaming mind you, but it'll do the job all the same and give you little trouble.I also get minimal stuttering from Heroes of the stormThe keyboard feels soft but responsive and is quiet, plus the backlight is nice.I also like the trackpad, multitouch gestures, smooth surface that doesn't lend to gathering oily junk. The battery is O.K. it's not some megahouse but it's enough to get the job done if you're moving from point A- to point B (Besides who doesn't travel without their cable anyway)I made sure to wipe the OS with a fresh install immedietly after purchase and I notice both a performance and battery boost.Overall rating: I will need more time and will possibly update my review after about a month or two, however I really REALLY enjoy the laptop so far, it's light, responsive, quiet and sexy.Would recommend for price/performance B+

The sound starts out fine, then within 30 seconds to an hour
I'm a 15 year HP user but I may have to revisit my choices in the near future. I purchased this laptop mid-July, seduced by the look of the product. I received the first laptop mid-July, had to return 24 hours later due to profound hardware issues, the laptop didn't function at all. Received the replacement on July 25th, everything seemed to function properly.... until this today, September 10th. So that puts me beyond the 30 day Amazon return period. Now I will have to deal with HP directly. In the meantime, I moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on August 28th. So now I have to deal with the issue from another country where mail and shipping in general are not optimal. The issue today is the audio. I've been watching news for friend in Miami/ Ft Lauderdale during Hurricane Irma. They have no electricity or cable but turn their phones on 1x per hour so that I can give them updates. The sound starts out fine, then within 30 seconds to an hour, the volume gradually lowers until there is no sound at all. I have done everything recommended by HP tech support online, reinstalling, updating, BIOS, you name it I'vedone it. The tech support person was excellent, I have no complaints about the level of service I've received. My beef with HP is that these issues with the Envy are document for over a year. I believe I've been deliberately defrauded by HP when the company knows that they've introduced a defective product to the market. I've read other reviews on Amazon, apparently many of you have not experienced these issues and are very happy with your laptops. I hope that you continue to be satisfied and that you do not have the issues I have. For myself, I've got to figure out where to take my business next. It's disappointing as until now, I've enjoyed and trusted the HP brand.

Wonderful little laptop!
I had a wide laptop that my computer guy bought for me that was heavy and cumbersome. After all of the airport security measures regarding large electronic devices went into effect (we fly a lot), I decided to go small and light. The HP Envy 13 is AWESOME! It's fast and light and easy to set up. I also "googled" the battery issue associated with this computer and found a site that checked the battery and found it to be okay. I've been using this computer for a few weeks now and I am extremely happy with it. The only issue I have with it (and this is a negligible issue) is that because it is small, the keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, as the keys are somewhat closer together than I am used to having. After a week or so, my fingers have become used to the smaller keyboard, so this issue is rapidly resolving. The Envy is fast and powerful and does everything I ask of it. Since I am not a computer geek, I have had hubby help me with some of the set up issues, but in short, the learning curve is short. It is a very powerful computer and truly meets all of my needs. I bought one of those neoprene sleeves for it. The fit is a bit snug, but I still like the protection and ease of transporting the Envy and its power cord.
