Introduction to the curved blade but...
... the introduction to the book itself is cringe worthy - a typical MAGA/QAnon/anti-commie-pinko-Jew-liberal rant. Apparently those of us who live in countries without the dubious benefit of the 2nd Ammendment spend our lives cowering in fear. This aside, a basic introduction to the curved knife but written in the tired obfuscated style of the bureaucrat who hasn't read Gowers' Compleat Plain Words.

Useful and interesting, if a bit basic.
I feel I paid a little too much for what the book actually delivered, but it's written well enough and there is some useful information within. The formatting on the kindle is problematic too. Sentences change lines for no apparent reason and text does not line up with the pictures. It's a mess in this regard.

Great for those new to edged combatives
This book is a great recourse if you have no martial arts, edged weapons or law enforcement experience. However, if you are new to any of these things, this book is terrific.Tarani focuses a lot on liability and smartly points out the seriousness of edged weapons. This is responsible and spot on. Conceptually, taraini's view of self defense and awareness are great, and anyone interested in the subject should listen to his guidance. The book falls short only when addressing technical application beyond the most fundamental techniques that require a little instruction with a competent martial arts or combatives instructor. That said, taraini is honest about his books purpose, to inform moe than instruct, and it is informative.Personally, I bought this because I really love the korambit as a self-defense tool and Tarani's design of blade is excellent. Tarani dosen't push is merch, which I thought was classy. Since he didn't I will. Look at Tarani knives if your in the market. They are quality construction and design.. I enjoy his knife so much that I bought this book. The truth is, the knife easily adapts to a good, practical self sefense system and getting a solid a text is no substitute for solid instruction.I would like to see and hoped for more technical application beyond the fundamentals shown in this book. Tarani is very concerned about liability and CCW regulation, and I don't blame him. I love my 2nd amendment too, but I didn't want a book of opinions about carry and self defense laws even though I mostly agree with those opinions. Infusing a topic with these politics diluted the books real merits: why a curved blade is a superior edged tool and the best methods to employ its use.

Good general information
I have read some of the authors other books this is by far the best I have read from him. It's more about defense than martial arts. The history of the Karambit was too brief, so was the comparison of a straight blade & a curved blade.
