Q: Do you need to cut the rubber.at the top of the gauge after installation? I'm curious what purpose it serves. I will be using this for my pool filter.

Yes; if you don't open the plug's vent, the gauge will not read accurately as the ambient temperature changes around the gauge; this due to pressure build-up/declination from expanding/contracting liquid volume within the gauge; if you can't install the gauge vertically and don't need the dampening properties of a liquid filled gauge, you can pour the liquid out of the gauge and vent it without experiencing the problem of the liquid leaking out of it.

Q: Will this zenport lpg4000 glycerin liquid pressure gauge, 4k psi work on 3800 psi pressure washer to be able to tell what the pressure is set at?

Any gauge performs best when it reads somewhere between 60 - 70% of the expected pressure. The reason for this is to account for minor differences in operating pressures. 4k does not give you enough variance if you're expecting 3800 psi. Any spike in pressure can render the gauge useless.

Q: Will this gauge be destroyed if used with water and temp. drops below freezing?

It won't be destroyed but mine is 5lbs off since going thru the winter. I'm in NC so not as cold here. Probably lowest around 20 last winter.

Q: Is this 1/4” male npt??? Need to make sure.

It is a male and the threads measure 1/2 inch in diameter.
