wonderful!
Wow, I was thinking it was not working right because the blower stayed on after I powered the unit down. Before I started the return process with Amazon, the seller send me a check in email. I replied to them and explained my concern. They explained that the blower is supposed to stay on for 10mins to reduce moisture (mold potential). I double checked and that's exactly what it does. They saved me wasting my time returning it. I'm buying another unit now! They are super quiet and very effective. Nice to have the humidity displayed on the screen! And sleep mode it helpful for those that need a dark room to sleep! Great product and fantastic service!

The tank is a pain to deal with, but otherwise this thing is great.
So the only real thing to report is, as others have said, the tank design is a bit of a pain to deal with. Particularly, for some reason you must pick it up, turn it over, and then fill it through a part on the bottom. Why isn't there an opening in the top? It wouldn't even have to have a strong seal -- some sort of flap might even be good enough if you didn't have to turn the thing over. Better still, the side at the top (such as having something that pulls out) so it would be easier to fill. Since the part that aims the moisture coming out is loose, you have to first pry it out (which is hard while it's upright since it fits tightly down inside a hole) or it's going to fall out and bounce on the floor (possibly going under something) the moment you turn the tank over. You may be able to catch it coming out while you turn it over. I will probably put in some putty or something to hold it semi-permanently in place later (I'm almost tempted to glue it, but then I could never turn it in a different direction obviously.) I think also that the choice to make it slim and tall was a bad choice as well. No doubt it looks better and is easier to fit in really tightly packed shelves (but you really should have it separate anyway since it's outputting a lot of moisture very fast which isn't going to be good for most of the things you'd put on a shelf) but if it had a shorter and wider tank it could have the same capacity while being much easier to fit in a normal sink. Perhaps they mean for you to only fill it with jugs since you really need to use distilled water for any humidifier (even one like this with something of a filtration mechanism) but it should still not be this hard for those of us who have filters on our sinks or for someone who is just desperate during winter when humidity usually really drops fast.EDIT: Previously I had said I worried about the fan. It seemed to always be running, so I was concerned about how long it would last with the assumption that it was (no fan goes on forever after all.) It seems that it's actually supposed to only run a short while after stopping and I just had bad timing to catch it on. I tested by turning it off manually and the fan did indeed stop after a while. The idea, apparently, is to help dry out the tube and to reduce the growth of mold. This is actually a really good idea because fungal growth is a huge and frequent problem among humidifiers and I'd say this is another thing they've actually gone above and beyond in compared to others in this thing's pricerange (and even well above.)Now for all the rest, all of which is basically good. The lights on the display are bright, but press the "moon" icon and it goes almost completely dark (leaving only one thing lit, perhaps just to make it clear the thing is still active.) As long as you're not directly looking at that display at night it won't be a problem at all. Too many devices neglect this and assault your sleep with enough light that you can see to walk around! The actual controls are the most feature-rich of any humidifier I've ever used too. Most are basically just an output control and an on and off switch (or usually both in one dial.) This one not only has controls, but lets you set it to automatically maintain a specific humidity percentage. I think its sensor isn't perfect (I think it picks up its own output or something) but once you find the right setting for you you can just set it and leave it. With the more expensive humidifier that this replaced I was forced to setup a timer on the plug itself to physically turn on and shut off the thing from time to time to maintain a reasonable level in my room since the dial alone wasn't sufficient control. It also seems to have a timer function making that sort of thing unnecessary if you prefer it (though I think it's unnecessary with the level control.)Now here's my favorite: it's not noisy at all. I've used some fairly expensive humidifiers and they take some serious getting used to to be able to sleep in the same room. Usually the water runs through a pump which makes plenty of noise on its own. However, this one needs no pump because the water simply drops down into a small open tank area at the top of the base via the same mechanism that pet waterers use. This means from time to time you may hear a bit as air pulls in when the water goes down, but this is not usually very loud at all. The only motor running is that relatively quiet fan. This is doubly nice when it's running low. Most humidifiers start sucking in some air in the pump when it gets low before their floating sensor drops enough to actually shut off the device and make a lot of awful noise. Because this one works the way it does this will never happen. When it gets low, water just flows out and it just gets quieter if anything. No waking up in the middle of the night to loud awful noise. If it wasn't for that tank design I'd say this thing is worthy of an actual six out of five for actually going above and beyond. Other than the tank design everything about this is well designed and better than humidifiers that easily cost twice as much. Perhaps three times as much.

Needs better directions, but an awesome machine.
Works like a charm. I love the performance of this machine. It gives a wonderful mist unlike my old one which spewed like a volcano molding up my bedroom. It is easy to fill and is programable. We make sure to heat water to 140 degrees or more and then cool down the water prior to filling the removable tank on the humidifier. We want to make sure to get rid of any legionaires issues. We do not put hot or warm water in the machine, only cool. I would have given this 5 stars but am dissapointed in the directions as they are not very clear. There are little pellets or beads in a basket container in the top of the machine. I do not know what they are or what purpose they serve. Again directions could be much better!

House of germs - no easy cleaning.
This humidifier has a nice mist and the large water tank allows it to work for several days before running out. The problem is that it is nearly impossible to clean. After having done some research a while back, I found that humidifiers can actually be damaging if they are not cleaned every couple days with vinegar. The reason for this is the bacteria builds up inside and the humidifier in turn spews the bacteria out in its mist. That said, I am extra careful to clean mine at least once a week. This one, however, does not open up to clean the inside. There are so many nooks and crannies that are germ cesspools. Pink goo builds up after 3-4 days and I can't clean it because it is hard to reach places.

Buy another brand
The humidifier did even last a year. First, the base stopped working at 5 months and the manufacturer sent a new one. However, the new base only worked 2 weeks before it started beeping all night long and showing an image for wifi. We did not set up the machine for wifi and there was no instructions on how to turn off this feature. Then the humidifier would make a terrible noise even when turned off. Then the water tank developed a fracture and water went everywhere. We treated this humidifier lovingly but it did not thrive. Buy another brand.

The perfect humidifier !
Last winter I used a smaller humidifier and appreciated the positive effects of moisture in the air. I live in a building with hot air heat. I had to fill it every day and that was a struggle so when I saw this one on sale I knew it wouldn't have to be filled so often so I ordered it. IT IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE OTHER ONE! It is easy to fill! I don't end up dripping water everywhere! And I only have to do it 1/5 as often as the other one! I had to learn what all the buttons are for but they allow so much more control and keep me informed about the humidity level! I could set it to be completely automatic. This is perfect for my apartment.

Lots of mist. Died too young.
I’ve only had mine a few days and I’m hoping mine was defective since it only lasted about 7 tank refills before it malfunctioned. I discovered the tank empty but to my surprise the fan was still operating despite no water in the tank. Normally it senses when there is no water and automatically shuts off. I refilled the tank thinking it may be a fluke, but failed to create a mist. Powering the unit off did not make the fan stop, only unplugging it from the wall did.On a positive note, this unit put off more visible mist than any other of the humidifiers I’ve used which is why I rated it 2 stars.
