Extras
Have not needed them yet, but great to have on hand. the unit comes with both a strip and an individual holder which work great. Best to have these though. Incase you scratch something, they are worth having available.

not scratch resistant
I purchased the digital photo duplicator that these film holders are used with about a year ago. I have only used it a few times (maybe 15 pictures worth) and the film holders are already showing scratches. I don't know how long I can continue to use the holders until the scratching begins to affect my results. Bottom line, CLEAN your negatives before running them through the film holder!!! Also, buy a few extra film holders if you have a lot of negatives to scan so you're ready for a swap-out when necessary.

These are a must have.
You need to order these to have extra, as they do scratch up and will effect the picture you are trying to transfer. They work great! I was also able to remove one side of the film holder, to allow one side of a stereo slide (for a viewfinder) to be transferred. It held it in place well enough to transfer to a digital picture that came out awesome. These are a must have if you plan on doing any slide transfers in high quantity.

Film holders will scratch
While it's good that replacement film holders are available, they will scratch upon running a couple of rolls of film through them. Also, I'm not sure that the optical quality is as good as it should be. Buy some other scanner.

DBTech Replacement Film Holders
These work fabulous right out of the package, but as you use it and keep feeding negatives through it, they do scratch. I didn't wipe them off but rather used canned air to blow out the dust and particles that got in there. I bought these to replace my original set that came with the scanner, which were scratched from use. I thought maybe I scratched them by being careless, but even being careful, they still scratch, and unfortunately, that shows up greatly on your print. I wound up not using film holders in my scanner at all.

Makes for a VERY POOR quality lens
Injection molded clear plastic junk!!! Makes for a VERY POOR quality lens, which is the whole point, so you can scan the picture. All the imperfectionsa in the plastic distorted the image scan!!! Totally unuseable. Then they gave me lip service, when I tried to return them. Ended up just throwing them out. Live and learn.

OK quality at high speed
The quality of the output is just ok. The colors are definitely not quite right, but the speed and ease of use is what got it 4 stars. You can reproduce a lot of slides in a fairly short period of time with it. The quality is fine for obtaining copies of slides that you just want to have to look at. If you want an honest to goodness high quality copy then you'd better go with something else. I can get a much better copy of slides with my Cannon flat bed scanner, but it is a much slooooower process. I think I will use the DBTech for most of the slides and use the flat bed scanner for "special" shots that I want to print and frame. I have not tried the DBTech with negatives.

It is good

For the price, it is a pretty good product. If you are looking for something more professional, then this is not for you and be ready to pay a lot more. Otherwise I am quite happy with it as it is quite easy to use and the result is dependence on how much attention you give to the cleaning of the negatives before you do the scanning. I find the result satisfactory most of the time and is happy that my photos are digitized and stored in my computer and not in some shoe boxes!

These holders are made of cheap plastic and they WILL get scratched after you scan just several films. In order to scan about 100 negatives I had to by about 15 holders, which was not particularly cheap - 6 holders for film strips + 2 holders for single frame (for which I had no use) cost $15 with shipping. I would recommend to this manufacturer to charge $10 more for the machine but redesign holders to be made of glass. Or at least some durable plastic. Those seems to be made of nothing and are actually expensive give how long they last.
