desertcart.com Before making Batman, director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton teamed up for this popular black comedy about a young couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) whose premature death leads them to a series of wildly bizarre afterlife exploits. As ghosts in their own New England home, they're faced with the challenge of scaring off the pretentious new owners (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones), whose daughter (Winona Ryder) has an affinity for all things morbid. Keaton plays the mischievous Beetlejuice, a freelance "bio-exorcist" who's got an evil agenda behind his plot to help the young undead newlyweds. The film is a perfect vehicle for Burton's visual style and twisted imagination, with clever ideas and gags packed into every scene. Beetlejuice is also a showcase for Keaton, who tackles his title role with maniacal relish and a dark edge of menace. --Jeff Shannon Review: Great film - Great film with wonderful cast, fun performances and great score Review: Great movie - Good and funny movie

Beetle juice is an amazing movie!
Beetlejuice is an outstanding movie performed by a talented cast that creates a sense of suspense and fear. The special effects enhance the level of fright throughout each scene. An especially memorable excerpt is where the new homeowners are walking up the stairs when the stairway railing seemingly comes alive in the form of a snake. The railing turned snake, rises up in a large form and turns its attention to the unsuspecting characters in the scene as they desperately attempt to escape. This special effect delivers a feeling of horror as viewers could never imagine something like that happening in real life. The vivid music creates suspense and tension within and throughout each dramatic scene as the intensity of the music increases and decreases in volume to signify drama. For example, when Lydia (Winona Ryder) finally opened the door to the attic and walked in very slowly, the music increased in volume and dramatic intensity. Another example is when Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) was evolving out of his grave after Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) called his name three times. As he emerged, the music grew louder and took on a more thrilling beat signaling to the viewers that something significant was about to occur. Beetlejuice is a thrilling movie because the characters and setting gave a real-life believable feel that captures the viewer’s attention from the opening scene. The churlish main character Betelgeuse intrigues the audience with this rude and vulgar demeanor as he attempts to assist Adam and Barbara in haunting the new home occupants and force them to leave. Betelgeuse’s presence is discordant to the otherwise capable couple Adam and Barbara as the majority of their interactions involve them pleading with Beetlejuice to leave them alone. A monumental scene in this entertaining thriller involves Lydia’s family and guests that they are entertaining gathered around the fancy modern dinner table. The family is attempting to lavish their guests with stories and reveals that Lydia has encountered a ghost in the house. The guests laugh in disbelief and dismiss the idea that there was any truth to the story. At this moment, Lydia’s mother is overcome with a force unbeknownst to her which causes her to sing and dance to a song (Day O! by Harry Belafonte) she is familiar with but wouldn’t otherwise have been able to recite each lyric. The scene evolves into the entire table of guests participating in an entertaining song and dance when at one point their heads are forced to look down and the shrimp cocktail that had been served as an appetizer seems to come to life and gropes their faces. The shrimp eventually releases its grip and the song and dance ceases leaving the guests unexpectedly joyful and thoroughly entertained. The efforts to haunt, scare and deter them did the exact opposite. Therefore, this thrilling, suspenseful and entertaining movie is highly recommended for viewers entertainment and enjoyment.
