making recordings so much clearer
The difference is amazing. This gives so much warmth to our recordings. It is carnival season in Antigua and Barbuda and the studio is flooded with artist preparing music for the summer festival. being able to get the right sound at the point of recording instead of adding effects afterwards has saved us countless hours. This is worth every penny. thank you.

Great for home studio!
Wasn't sure this will give me the sound I wanted but it has made a great difference! normally I run a preamp on the input channel on Cubase but this made he mic sound much more present and clean. I still think it worked better on my bass so I am going to get something else for vocals but its a great and very well built preamp that i would recommend to anyone with a nice home studio looking for a all round preamp!

A good value but don't expect too much
You're not going to find a better preamp in this price range. That said, don't expect this to have the same effect on your recordings as a thousand dollar piece from UA or Grace. The difference between its all tube and solid state settings is subtle, but it's nice to be able to blend your choice between the two. I recorded the same vocal line through the same mic with the VTB set to the tube side of the knob, and then again without the VTB and spent the better part of an hour a/b'ing the two tracks to see the difference. There is a LITTLE more warmth in the VTB, and it shows a little bit clearer, but it's not going to blow you away. A job where the VTB really shines though, I have a Duncan performer soundhole pickup for my acoustic that has always had problems direct to PA that sounds great with this added to the signal chain

It's alright.
It's a little difficult to use, and is usually to high, but when you get right, the lights don't light up to detect your voice.

Outstanding Device
This preamp is something i was look for. Very warm tone, with high gain and no excessive noise. You can push in gain and get extremely low noise and very warm tone with it's nice preamp.

The Infamous VTB1...
I have seen this affordable preamp used in multi-million dollar studios. Decided to get one myself. The difference is amazing. I love using it on bass guitar and vocals. Those big studios use this one for a reason! A must have for any home studio on a budget. For the price, it's hard to buy a better upgrade for your studio.

Great pre
Purchased to improve sound of Yamaha electric cello. Works great. Now I like the sound of my electric cello. Looping in möbius Vtb 1 improves the flat sound of audio interface.

Good
I got this preamp to get a better signal to noise ratio on my ribbon mics, as the noise was too high when recording quiet sources (mandolin) with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. Turns out it didn't help. It was hard to distinguish between the sound going directly into my saffire, and the sound going through both preamps, or directly from the VTB1 into my mac line input. Doesn't mean it's bad, it's just not any better than my Saffire. The tube added some more noise (that might be coming from my 240>120V ac/ac power converter). (It's worth noting that this product comes with an ac/ac adaptor, not ac/dc). I got a TritonAudio Fethead as well, which did help to remove noise from my ribbon mics.
