I decided to upgrade the "temporary" shelving I installed 5+ years ago. After reading the negative reviews, I was a little leary about ordering. I ordered one box of 4' shelving (2x48"x24") to place over my work bench. I figured if it wasn't what I was looking for in terms of quality and ease of installation, I could return it. Carrying the box from the front porch to the garage on the other side of the house told me that this was a heavy-duty product. Packaging is sturdy and well thoughtout. As I already knew where the studs were, I used neither the template nor the level. With the previous shelving I used a stud finder, a tape measure, and a 2' level. The previous shelving was "L" brackets and plywood, and due to the size of the brackets, the shelves were only 16" deep. The new shelving gives me 50% more storage space and I feel adds value to the home. I used the brackets as a template to determine where to drill the holes. Instead of using a box or open-end wrench, I used a ratchet, short extension, and 1/2" socket. Much quicker. I was so satisfied with the first two shelves that I ordered three more boxes and installed two 12' runs down one side of my garage. Those I installed yesterday. I have encountered only two issues. First, of 16 shelf units, one has a slightly (and I mean slightly) bent "wire". I probably could have bent it back but since it does not effect the functionality of the shelf, I left it alone. If you don't know it's there, you wouldn't notice it. Of the 48 screws, three were a tad too large for for the 1/2" socket and requred a 13mm socket which I didn't have. I did have, however, a 13mm box end wrench that worked just fine. Whether or not the brackets are square hasn't been an issue. One or two may have been off, but again, functionality and appearance are not effected. If you are any kind of DIY person, you should have no problems with installation. I'm 69 years old and did all of this by myself in just a few hours. Today I ordered two more boxes to replace shelving on the other side of the garage. I recommend this product highly.

This is an awesome set of shelves for your garage! Installation was really easy, especially because our garage is unfinished, but as long as you can find the studs, you’re good. Assembly is easy. These shelves hold a ton! Not literally, but a few hundred pounds I’m sure. Also, they look good!

This is a sturdy shelf unit - the real deal for sure. Just make sure you take measurements correctly as it’s a big item.

While I've given this set of metal shelves 4 stars, I should say that I'm quite satisfied with them and would purchase them again. They use three chunky lag bolts on each brace, so the shelving is very firmly attached to the wall studs. The shelves sit in three grooves on each brace. The shelves are kept from popping out of the grooves (though hard to imagine a scenario where they would) with two velcro straps. I'm not so keen on the velcro straps, but they serve the purpose; and in any case, as long as you have something on the shelves, they're not likely to go anywhere. This was very easy to install. The instructions say that a minimum of two people are required for the installation. I'm a small woman and had no trouble installing them by myself. Just FYI, I used a 13/64 drill bit and a 13mm socket wrench. These particular shelves have the virtue of being attached to the brackets anywhere along the shelves. It may be best if shelving can be centered over the two brackets, but my set up didn't allow for that--which is what attracted me to these shelves. There are lots of large hooks that are very handy. The hooks do not attach securely to the shelves and I suspect will come off as soon as I lift whatever is hanging on them. I will probably take some vice grips and close the top part of the hook around a shelving rail so it won't do that. I've taken off one star because of (a) the way the hooks attach (or rather, fail to attach) and (b) the use of a velcro strap to secure the shelves to the brackets. Even so, it's a fine set of shelves, and I really appreciate having all of those large capacity hooks. I've included a picture, in which the two bottom shelves on the left are of this particular shelving unit with which I've used 7 of the 8 provided hooks.

This is very heavy duty! I wanted a deep shelf for the garage and this was easy to install with good instructions. My studs are 16” apart so I didn’t use the template for width spacing, but I did use it for the vertical lag screw placement. I centered each bracket on my wall studs. It’s tricky when the shelving is in three foot sections so I picked the best two studs under each 3’ section. The Velcro ties do hold the shelving tight to the brackets. If your wall isn’t flat going across you will need to adjust how far in you put the lags since there isn’t much give forward or backward on the bracket slots. I haven’t put things on it yet but with three big lags for each bracket it feels like a person could do pull-ups on it.

These are heavy duty, work as described and easy to install. Glad we decided to purchase as we can store those once a year items off the garage floor.

Solid shelves. Not hard to put up, but use an impact driver if you have one… I did the first set manually and then borrowed an impact driver for the second set. They look nice, and are perfect for holding those yellow top Costco bins.

Sturdy and spacious overhead storage with easy installation. Holds heavy loads well and keeps the garage organized. Great value and quality!

Excellent product

Bought the pack of 4. It covers most of my single car garage. The shelves are strong and sturdy. Easy installation. The valcro straps are not strong so I just bought some zip ties to hold the shelves. I wish this item comes with the hooks just so I can hang some stuff. Overall good product.

Great shelving, excellent packaging & easy to erect.

Very solid product. Easy to use template for locating studs, once you find the first one, lay the template across to your appropriate spacing and they are marked, and comes with a bubble level on the template as well. Shelves on the 2x6 model are 3 feet, so that gives you some flexibility if you want a 3, 6, 9 or 12 foot length. The supplied wood screws are heavy duty, no messing around with these. The instructions say to use a wrench, I also tried using a socket set. Did a couple with the socket set, and then got the drill and nut driver set out. My 20v cordless drill didn't have the power for it, so I used an electric impact drill and it worked like a charm. Need a 13mm socket. The velcro straps that are used to tie the shelves to the bracket could be a bit longer but I managed ok. You could also use cable zip ties as well.
