Good Value
This product is fine. The other reviews, both negative and positive are correct. First, the negative: It is just a basic plastic piece. Nothing expensive or complex about it. But, it only costs $10. Stainless steel would cost a lot more. Someone wrote about it having no English directions. I laughed because I had the same confusion for a few minutes. The English instructions are on the cardboard of the package, not on the paper insert, which has another 8 languages. You wouldn't want to handwrite on the id tag. Looks terrible. And, yes, rather than black, I wished they had other colors, like burgundy.Getting it engraved is great. But, since this product can simply be removed by a thief, you want to get your hose and chestpiece engraved with your name. Scrubs and Beyond does it before they mail it to you. This id tag is good for an email address though. If I just lost my stethoscope and someone found it and wanted to return it, just my name wouldn't be enough in a big hospital. My email address lets them contact me if needed. Here's the catch, the mail away engraver for this won't do enough characters for most email addresses. But, my jeweler for $15 did a fantastic job. it looks great and serves a purpose.I also bought a burgundy stethoscope cover. It protects the hoses from bodily fluids, scratches, sunlight and skin moisturizer. Only $7 on Etsy. Amazon, eBay, and Scrubs and Beyond also have them.I also bought the Prestige Medical Clip for $5 which works great. I'm an RN and don't need the stethoscope around my neck for 12 hours. But, I do need it with me. The clip allows me to carry it safely. Then at home, I hang the clip on the wall with the stethoscope in it, but the chestpiece hanging down so the hoses don't have any crimp in them.

Great for anyone with genuine Littman stethoscope who doesn't want to damage it with other tags
This fit my Littman III stethoscope perfectly, but as others noted, was a little difficult to get on at first. However, it's very strong and definitely won't fall off. It does the job of differentiating my stethoscope from everybody else's (similar) stethoscopes. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it does not have the option of engraving it before it is sent to you- it comes with instructions for how to send away for metal engraving for an extra price (I believe $7), but it does come with a sticker where you can manually write your name and stick it on (which is what I ended up doing). Definitely needed this so I could tell which stethoscope was mine and didn't have any mix ups, so it does its job. Good especially for anyone who paid a lot of money for their Littman and doesn't want to risk using another brand's ID tag and damaging their stethoscope.

If You Liked It Then You Should Have Put A Name On It
This ID tag works well on the Littmann stethoscope. It comes with both a plain white ID tag you can write on, and a shiny plated one you can send out to have engraved, which looks far more professional. Don't buy an expensive stethoscope and then write on it. Spend the extra $7 and send this out in the prepaid envelope to get it engraved! After spending a fortune on a stethoscope, it would be infuriating to set it down and have someone pick it up, and simple as that, it's gone. It can happen so easily. For this ID tag, it is $7 to get it engraved. It already comes with a prepaid envelope, and up to 14 letters (including spaces) for engraving and 2-3 weeks to get it returned back to you. You just fill out your name and include a check for $7 and the shiny plate in the prepaid envelope and then it comes back to you in 2-3 weeks.

Good ID Tag once you figure out how to put it on. Needs better instruction!
The tag looks cheap but it's solid and it serves the purpose. It comes with two plates. One is plastic which you can write your name with a sharpie on it and the other is a very thin metal foil which you can engrave either by sending it out (additional $7) or your local Sears or Petco can do it for you for almost the same amount. I used a label maker and stick it to the plate which itself plugs into the front of the ID tag. I think it looks just as good & professional. Aside from the plate issue, the instruction (which is on the box itself) is very confusing and isn't very helpful and furthermore you have to be very careful to make sure its attached correctly the way you want it since once you pull the latches through you cannot remove it. I gave it 4 stars because its fairly inexpensive and does the job but it lacks clear instruction.

one might think this would be easy to attach but
So, one might think this would be easy to attach but: no English instructions are included and the diagram isn't adequate. There is a lot of confusion in the reviews so I hope this helps. The tabs go UNDER where the name plate attaches not THROUGH the upper slits that shouldn't even be there. If you put them through the upper slits you won't be able to attach the name plate. You can, however, yank them back out and attach them correctly. My pics may help. They should have clearer instructions or a Youtube vid to save on the confusion and bad reviews.

Does the job
My husband bought me this name tag to go on my new stethoscope, and it is very nice and does the job. I never got it engraved, I just wrote my name on it. I think he wanted to get it engraved, but that process was a pain because I think he had to receive the product first, and then send it away to be engraved, instead of just ordering it and it coming with the engraving already done. Anyways, I like the name tag, it does the job, doesn't get in the way, and it stays secured to my stethoscope.

Cool item, works well. Fits my Littman classic
Item is as described, It is a one time go when you put it on so pay attention. It really isn't hard at all and the metal label that comes with it is nice and thin (of course it is also thereby pliable) , I sent it out to be engraved. It took several weeks to get back and they misspelled my last name even though it is literally printed in block letters on the order form you tape it too. The print came out clear and nice, but now I need to send it back and by the time I get it, wel.... it's not really worth it. I'll probably just order a spare and take it to the mall to engrave.
