Product description Gentle Chair Exercises for Arthritis, Osteoporosis and Parkinson's. Resistance Band included Review Core Strength is a chair-based Pilates program that will transform your body from the inside out. This gentle program uses a resistance band to build strength and flexibility in the upper and lower body. The Stronger Seniors® Core Fitness Chair Exercise Program is designed by Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer and Faculty Provider Anne Pringle Burnell to help seniors develop the core foundation of the Body. The muscles of the Abdominals, the Lower Back, and the Pelvic Floor support the spine and internal organs, essential to the overall fitness of the body. Core Strength is based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates, modified for the chair to make Pilates routines easy for Seniors and the mobility challenged. Resistance band exercise not only provides for excellent muscle build up, but it definitely increases flexibility and range of motion. For those suffering from any movement impairing disabilities, band exercise can ease the discomfort and improve upon your range of motion. The best part of resistance band exercise is there is virtually no impact. Multiple Sclerosis patients who can barely walk utilize resistance bands to keep the blood flowing through their legs by doing a few stretches with the band wrapped around the thighs. Anne is an Instructor at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.Stronger Seniors can be viewed at youtube.com/strongerseniors About Anne Burnell Anne Pringle Burnell created the Stronger Seniors® Chair Exercise Program. But the classes are on the expensive side. So we tried a few pilates DVD's and most all are for younger, more flexible people. Since we are in our mid 60's and in pretty good shape, we wanted a program that challenged our ability. Most of the DVD's we tried mostly catered to seniors with some sort of physical quality that limited their abilities. Stonger Seniors has been the perfect program for our age group. The program is professionaly produced and Anne Pringle is the prefect instructor and moderator. She explains every step and clarfies why its being done. We have been using it for 4 months and do the program 3 days a week and still enjoy it. It has made us more flexible and I don't feel like a big heap of muscle pain when I do outdoor activities such as snow removal. We have also purchased her Stonger Seniors Yoga and Stretch and Strenthening DVD's and we love them. --AFR Royersfield, PAI have tried to find all of Anne Pringle Burnell's CDs for Stronger Seniors Sitting Exercises. They really work and her style is relaxed and informed. Super! --Kathryn A. Kirleis, FL

Highly recommend ANY (or all) of Anne's DVD'S!!!
I highly recommend ALL of Anne's DVD's. I own four of them. In this one, the resistance band is used (comes with the video). I also own her other "Core Fitness Chair Exercise" program, without the resistance band, but I like this one better. I feel like I'm getting a bit more of a workout. If the resistance band is too much for you in the beginning, I'm sure you can do the workout without the band and, as you gain more strength, you can add the band. This is obviously a DVD for seniors and those who are physically challenged, so some folks might find it too easy. If so, my hat's off to you! But this program is great for those of us who cannot get down on the floor (or back up again, lol!), or do alot of jumping & kicking. (Wish I could, but .....). Just so that you can gauge whether this is for you, I'll tell you that I am 68 yrs old, I have a disc herniation in my lower back, causing sciatica. My right leg is weak and I can't put my weight on it while lifting my left leg. I cannot walk more than 1/8 of a mile without a cane. I tend to bend forward very often, and I'm told it is because I need to strengthen my core. I also own and use an exercise stability ball.I have been previewing exercise videos from my library for a few months. Many of them are so easy that I don't feel like it's worth my time and effort. To the other extreme, some are too difficult and I become concerned that I will injure myself. I feel like Goldilocks from the "Three Bears". This one's too hard, this one's too soft..... But Anne's DVD is JUST RIGHT! For me. If you think you might be interested viewing a clip from her videos, check out her website. I've also been looking into chair yoga, and bought Anne's yoga video, too. Many yoga videos are done on the floor. Anne's is in the chair.

Wonderful Strength Training DVD!
This program is awesome! It gives you a great strength training workout that you can do from a sturdy straight back chair. When you can't stand for long periods of time most workouts make you lose your enthusiasm about doing them. This one keeps you coming back for more! Anne Pringle Burnell is her lovely self on this DVD. I love all the Stronger Senior workout programs but this one I believe is my favorite! I am not quite a senior but have lived a very sedentary life until the past 3 months and I have serious back problems so the Stronger Senior DVD's are perfect for me! You really can get a great workout in! You get out of it what you put into it and if you really put some energy into the workout your muscles will ache in a most agreeable fashion!

Our favorites
We are a group of active senior women. We use DVDs in our exercise group and Anne is our favorite. This one gives a good workout with the resistance bands and we feel it is really helping, especially in our shoulders.
