This pill pusher looks great. I haven't used it yet, but if I need to I'm sure it will work great. I bought size 5 capsules for my cats medication. He has congestive heart failure and needs to take a quarter of his pill everday. I have to score the pill in 4 pieces. And it's so easy to put in the capsules. I was forcing it down his mouth by hand and my poor cat struggled everday. So I hide the capsule in his wet food and he eats it right up and has no clue he took it. At dinner I give him a small amount of his wet food in a bowl first and I hide the pill in it. To my surprise he picked it right up. Then I feed him the remander of his food. It works and the capsules are very small so he isn't aware that he's taking it. The medication is very bitter but the capsules hid the taste. I bought the pink capsules so I can see if he ate it. When I was forcing it down his throat he would sometimes spit it out later. It would get stuck in the corner of his mouth. I recommend everyone who is looking for a safe and humane way to give your pets pills to try the capsules. The number 5 is the smallest and very easy to give to your cat. I found them here on Amazon. I also bought a kit here on Amazon that has small tools to fill the capsules very easily. I'll post the name in an update. XPRS Nutra Size 5 Empty Capsules - 500 Count . This is smallest, they have larger capsules if you need.

I was worried whether it would work on my cats, but it did! Super easy to use. It comes with sturdy silicone nozzles that you just attach to the head of the dispenser, and you place your pill inside the nozzle. You push the handle at the end, and the pill pops right out. All my cats were adopted from stray-hood, so some of them can be a bit difficult with medicine and they can smell it from miles away even in pill pockets. Only one of my cats likes pill pockets, the others don't care about it (they def should improve their formula). I had to give them drontal deworming medicine. I did break it in half with a small exacto knife, because the pills are pretty big. (Big/thick knives can shatter the pills. Exacto knives come in handy for multiple other uses around the house, i.e. dividing pills, opening packages, crafting, etc. Be safe though, it's small, but sharp.) I did have to wrap them with a towel firmly but gently, and then quickly pop it in. Pretend like it's any other day, hum a song maybe, make it look like nothing different is going on infront of them before medicine time, lol. They're extremely good at reading body language, and they'll probably still be able to understand what's going on. But worth a try! Make sure to give them lots of love, treats, and reassurance afterwards, or leave them alone for a while, if that's that they prefer. And you're done and golden.

My cat has to take 3 pills a day. She fights me big time when I tried giving them to here. I have several bite marks on my fingers. She did not like taking them in treats or the pill pockets. She would eat around them or spit them back out. This tool has been a blessing. She takes them without a fuss. She’s not happy but does swallow them. She now waits in the spot for her pills. Still doesn’t like it but does take them without much fuss.

If you have a cat that is extra difficult to give pills to, do not get one of these. I read the reviews before buying it myself and thought "it can't be all that bad". BZZZZ....wrong! It can be and it is. It does not shoot the pill to the back of the cat's tongue where it is easy to get them to swallow it. All it does is drop the pill gently out the end of it. If you don't have the end of the pill pusher all the way in the back of kitty's mouth, then that pill is going nowhere except out and onto the floor. I tried using this item and finally gave up. I went back to our old one, which is 100% better, even if it is 10 years old and showing its age. Don't waste your money. P.S. I tried giving this a zero stars review, it wouldn't let me. You have to give it at least one star. It's not worth even one.

Edit: I have changed my review from 3 stars to 4. Their customer service is exceptional! After reading my review, they reached out and I was offered a full refund, even though it was past my return period. But I’ve decided to keep the product because I know our small local shelter can always use these kinds of supplies, and I still think it’s a good product even if it’s not “for me”. So if you’re on the fence about trying it, I’d say go for it. If it’s not ‘for you’ either, at least you have the peace of mind that you can return it for a full refund. Or you can donate it to a rescue shelter. I have an 18 year old cat with multiple health issues that require giving him five pills, twice a day. Some are tiny and some are kind of huge. So I bought this tool in hope of reducing his stress during medicine time. But sadly, it actually made pill time even more stressful. Pros: I do like how the silicone tip is soft and won’t scratch the soft pallet and is easy on the teeth if the cat tends to try and bite down on it. It also does hold regular-sized pills well. It would probably work well for any small pets that take normal, whole pills. The trigger is also responsive and releases normal size/shape pills easily. Cons: My cat takes varying sized pills, with some cut in 1/4 pieces and the cut pills do not stay in the silicone tip properly, plus they tend to not dispense when the trigger is pressed if the pill is cut. The tool is also very awkward to hold with a squirming cat trying to get away. It may work better if one person is holding the cat still while the other uses the tool. Sadly, I’ve just gone back to giving his medication by hand. As long as you keep your fingernails trimmed very short (and your cat’s claws trimmed) it’s actually kind of easy to give them pills once you find the ‘secret’ combo position that works for both you and the cat. I use this method: With my left hand (I’m right handed), I hold the back of my cat’s head by his neck for stability. With my left thumb, I lift his chin so he’s looking up toward the ceiling. Holding the pill with my thumb and index finger of my right hand, I use my right middle finger to wedge open his mouth at the back corner. With his mouth open, and him looking up, I drop the pill at the back of his throat. Close his mouth, gently massage his throat to trigger his swallow reflex, then repeat.

This is the best pill shooter I’ve ever used. It holds small, or partial, pills securely and “shoots” effectively. Makes our lives, and our cats’ lives, more peaceful.

It works so well that we ordered a second one - however it arrived without one of the silicone heads intended to accommodate different pill sizes

I've tried quite a few pillers for cats. This is the only one that actually helped me get my extremely squirmy cats pilled. Because of the design I never lost my grip on it while squeezing the pill out. The pill goes right where you aim it. It's quick and easy. Out of 28 pills (two weeks pilling two cats), only two pills got spit out because my cat was quicker than I was. But both times the second try succeeded, no need for a third attempt. I'm never going back to the other design.

This works! I have a hard time getting a pill far enough back into my cat's mouth so she spits them out. Also I'm supposed to wear gloves to handle this medication, and the glove gets snagged on her teeth. With this pill shooter the process is a lot simpler and faster for both me and the cat. It doesn't "shoot" the pill very far - you have to put the tool into the cat's mouth a ways. I tried it out a few times just on the countertop to get a feel for the trajectory and find a good way to position the specific shape of pill. If you have trouble getting a pill into your pet it's worth a try!

Wish I had this years ago!! So simple to use even on my very awkward kitty!!!! Can usually pop his pill without wrapping him up first. After a couple of warm up attempts it’s been success every time an much less traumatic all round.

Without it I would not be able to give the medication to my cat.
