It is really good...and it is really lacking.
I am torn with my rating. One side of me wants to give it 5 stars because of the quality and the way it is put together. I had one like it before but it was not this type of set up, would fall off, and eventually broke. This one stays in place and I doubt will be coming off. I have a sport vehicle with a tighter suspension and it handled the road test just fine. The clamp is well thought out and secure on all directions. The side, which if turned to hold a phone has little arms that can pivot out to keep it from sliding down. The arms are padded along with the back. It is well made.So why the 3 stars with all the good stuff above? If I use the bottom support rocker arm it pushes the unit way to slanted upward. If I push the clips in where they are supposed to be the unit it still angled upward. The unit will not rotate or pivot towards the driver. It stays flat with the dash board. It appears this is made for vents that are straight up and down and not angled like most car vents are nowadays. The design is good but a little behind the times. The clip arms need to be longer to keep it flat up and down and a pivot would be nice.Being at an angle as it is, the glare and not facing the driver, the sun blocks out most of the map route. I used one work around where I did not use the bottom rocker arm as a support. I just tucked in the vent slot. That way I have some support and not as much of an angle. If your passenger wants to use that vent it is on. They are SOL. If you drive a lot during the day without the voice on your GPS. You are SOL.Lucky for me I drive mostly at night and seldom with a passenger. So all in all....3 stars. It is a well made item just not quite suited for vents that angle and needs a pivot. It does hang in there tough and I doubt it is gonna fall out. There is much good here and some bad. You just need to play with some to get it as right as you can. I have some images posted if you care to take a look.

Not quite universal
This holds well and is easy to insert and remove. It works very well on my TomTom that I'm no longer using, but my Garmin Drve 52 is another story. The Garmin's connection is such that the grips on this mount just about barely hold it. The Garmin would probably stay put, but I didn't give it a chance. I returned it and bought one that was made specifically for a Garmin.

Tom Tom Truly a solid Mount
This GPS mount is very stable and seems to be much less fragile than our previous one. It doesn't protrude into the car interior and seems to be fairly solid. Time will tell I assume but so far it looks good and doesn't wiggle or flop around.

Bought this to hold my rv backup camera. Works great. Easy to see and does not interfere with driving.

very universal in design
Used this with a TomTom GPS, tho it really is pretty universal in design . My GPS is a 5" screen, about 1/2 inch thick, with the speaker located on the back. This unit has an adjustable "claw type" grip. 2 pieces on top, 2 pieces on the bottom. you can adjust how wide the arms spread from each other across the top and bottom, you also can adjust how wide (far apart) they open, and then close them tight around what ever devise you are using, be it cell phone or GPS. As far as mounting in my car was concerned, this item snaps right into place on the horizontal vents in the middle of the dash board of my 2005 Malibu Maxx. It's stable, it doesn't bounce around, nor did it break my vents. I mentioned that the speaker is on the back of my GPS unit because someone had mentioned that this made it impossible to hear the directions. I'm not sure how they had it set up in the holder, but I had no issues what so ever hearing the voice directions emitted by the GPS. I think that this air vent mount was a great value and it's done a great job so far (it's only been a week, but it gets used daily) of securing the devise in a location that makes it extremely easy to read, hear, and input directions.I did also want to note that it can be used on vertical louvers (vents) too as the arms that grip the vents are also adjustable.
