I returned this particular seed because it is not the correct seed for my area
After working with the Purdue University Students, I discovered this particular grass seed was not the correct seed for my area, for fall planting, and will die when the springtime arrives. This was only an annual seed and best for other areas. I did however order the correct seed recommended which had been delivered by on 9/20/21. This new grass seed is meant for over seeding and is a perennial seed rather than an annual seed. The correct seed for my area which is Zone 7 is not an annual rye grass but Central Contractors Blend Mix

Best seed I have ever used
I always purchased winter rye to overseed my zoysia, always got weeds and thin stringy blades. This stuff is consistent, grows fast w a thick blade. All are even and fully grew in 11 days. Amazed!

I throwd it out in the fall and cover it with straw and it come up green and grow tall some of the seed didn’t come up because the birds eat them

This is not for overseeing home lawns
Grows very fast. Big wide leaves. Funny purple color.Looks like weeds in the yard. Not good for overseeing a home yard.Probably great for cattle

No till winter rye...at this rate it will sprout in spring
Today, weeks since I scattered the no-till winter rye I saw my very first sprout. Not many but at least a few. I have not previously responded because I didn't have anything good to write, but today I do...a few sprouts. There were no instructions with the seed. I had no idea it would take this long to sprout. We have had plenty of rain, a number of good sunny days, some decent temperatures and days that were not conducive to new growth but I truly expected sprouts earlier. If I do this again I will spread seed in early to middle October. I cannot recommend this product but it could be as much my fault as it is the product's.

Squirrels love it.
I spread it out. It was a beautiful green for about 3 days.

Seeds didn't germinate
It was alot of seed for the money, but we didn't get many to germinate. We followed the instructions, and we have grown winter rye several times, but didn't want to buy from Lowes again. Guess we will go back to Lowes .
