Advent calendars are my thing. I have reviewed a great many of them. The categories below are based on issues I've discovered in the past.GENERAL COMMENT: Increasingly, I am finding myself looking at advent calendars which were most likely manufactured in China by people unclear on the concept. I do understand the appeal of selling some children's baubles or cheap jewelry for more just by slapping them into an advent calendar. But many of these advent calendars employ odd combinations of clip art; some don't even have a Christmas theme. Some are numbered incorrectly.It is challenging to rate these advent calendars. They can't hold a candle to a German-made chocolate calendar or a high-quality toy calendar like Hot Wheels, Legos, or Polly Pocket. So I shall evaluate these advent calendars on their own merits and in relation to each other.Let's take a look at this one!THEME: Unicorn-themed jewelry plus children's makeup.THE BOX: Small side of medium.COVER ART: Unicorn and ornaments.DOES THE BOX FLIP OPEN: No.DOES THE BOX FLIP OPEN THE CORRECT WAY: N/ADID THE TOYS STAY IN THEIR COMPARTMENTS: Yes. There was a layer of tissue paper to prevent slippage. That had come loose, but everything stayed in its compartment nonetheless.I always open up advent calendars. Always always always. Too often, one of the toys is no longer in its designated compartment. I open the advent calendars to avoid disappointment. I recommend you do the same.HOW HARD WAS IT TO OPEN THE CALENDAR TO CHECK ON THE TOYS: Easy. I just had to hack through a piece of tape.NUMBERED CORRECTLY: Yes.QUALITY OF TOYS: Cheap trinkets. Half makeup, half charms. Cute pink bracelet and pink necklace on Day One.PLAYABILITY: Medium.BOTTOM LINE: Cute calendar for the unicorn lover in your life.

This is mostly just unicorn-related charms, with a few pieces of makeup. A couple of link bracelets are included, and it totally take me back to the charm bracelets/keychains of my childhood. My daughter is 4, and I think this set is ideal for girls ages 4-6. One big downfall is that the insert was facing the wrong direction so nothing lined up with the pop outs. I had to {discreetly} take out the insert and put it back in the right way, and now everything lines up. Aside from that, I have no complaints and would buy this again. I just advise that you take the insert out first and make sure it's in correctly.

This was a huge disappointment a lot of the days we opened where empty, where the jewelry have fallen out. I just let my daughter open the entire box to find all the charms. They look really cheap and most were unicorns.

My daughter gets enough candy without having an advent calendar full of it. Nice alternative to chocolate, cute jewelry items, priced a little higher than I expected.
