Download driver first (two links)
If you don’t download the driver via zip, this won’t work!! I’m very basic computer person I contacted costumer service because no CD software is included in the packageTheir response was very quick and they sent me the two links after download this driversThis product works wellKeep in mind video does not improve to todays format ( in my case is the same format)However I’m very happy to have digital videos from 25 years ago(from VHS big cassette)

Does not Work
Bought this as it states that it supports Linux. This device does not support Linux, it barely supports Windows, well that is if you can find drivers. Using the application USB2DVD included software does not work either, software was created in 2011.1. Could not capture any video2. if I captured video is was out of sync and choppyThat is if you could get it to work, I found some 2011 drivers, but it was a hit or miss if it was recognized by Windows 10 or Ubuntu Studio. Forget Windows 7 of Windows XP without drivers just did not work. And there is no support from the vendor.

Great, Works, Awesome, Much needed
Easy to use and much needed to get these VHS and other video recordings from other sizes downloaded. Love this item and it does work great without much hassle.

Does not properly record video on a Mac, but does okay in Windows
I tested this device on a Mac running Catalina. Once I downloaded the driver from the link provided in the Q&A section of the sales listing, the device was immediately discovered by both QuickTime and OBS on my Mac, and the video was recorded as Apple ProRes 422. I did not test this device on a PC.This device does not properly capture interlaced video fields on a Mac. The device does capture video the full 720 pixels wide, but it appears to blur the even and odd scan lines together so you do not get the full 480 line vertical resolution. This means that you cannot de-interlace the video in post-production to improve the picture quality. This device is not fit for archiving your old video tapes. The blurred jaggies are permanently burned into the image. This means that you cannot further process the image with any of the new AI image upscalers to produce quality 60fps HD video from your old SD recordings. This device might be useful if you wish to repurpose an old NTSC video camera for streaming or video conferencing, or some other purpose where image quality does not matter.I would avoid this device for any archival purposes using a Mac.UPDATE:I installed BootCamp and Windows on my Mac Mini (Intel). After downloading and installing the software, and some extra plug-ins, I was able to get this card to capture what I consider to be very good quality video (correctly interlaced) using OBS on Windows. However, it took a lot of tweaking and google searches to get OBS set up correctly. The included Honestech DVD authoring software seems rather dated and pointless, though. Why would I want to copy my home movies from one dead format to another dead format? If you are a Windows user who is already familiar with OBS, or you don't mind spending several hours or days figuring out how to set this capture card up, this little dongle actually does a pretty decent job of digitizing video. Mac-only users should avoid this and look elsewhere.

Did the job!
As it comes with DVD software, you would think its needed - took me some to realize, that's only needed if you are on a PC. NEEDS TO STATE UPFRONT. It was a pleasure to work with, as you control/import via Quicktime. Great product, great price.Thank you.

Sad SVGA situation
This device will allow capture of VHS video and save it as an MPG2 compressed file.Sadly, the SVGA pickup does not work on this model. If you are just trying to save some old footage, this is an inexpensive option (and you can even take 'snap shot' images on the fly). However, if you wish to archive your VHS with the highest possible quality, look elsewhere.

Easiest one out there
No learning curve very easy to use transferred all my VHS and DVD home movies to computer flash drive and external hard drive. If your goal is to save all your home movies this is the product you need.

Doesn’t work with MAC
Doesn’t work with MAC. Nephew who has masters in cyber security couldn’t get it to work either and he attempted on Windows too

Worked like a charm.
Instructions were sparse but I was (barely) able to follow them and install the drivers. I downloaded the driver from the link (type it in carefully) and everything worked perfectly on my macbook air.

Software is glitchy but it’s works well
Doesn’t like new Mac iOS but it works great once you get the software sorted. I used it to make a compilation video for a funeral and it did exactly what I needed

Useless. Scam.
The device came, went to install it. but when you install the driver link, the zip file will go through the install process only to display an uninstall icon. There is no software. No tech support either.Have to watch a detailed YouTube tutorial just to install the program."Easy Converter solution" my ass!Shoddy work guys!
