I love this item. The reservoir is larger than any other one I've used, so it holds a lot more of the broth at a time. I do have to be careful to not fill it too close to the silicone strainer because the fat will come back through the strainer holes and pour out with the broth that is coming through the bit below the fat.It isn't very easy to clean that pipe, but I found if I swish it in soapy water, it gets clean without too much trouble.The reservoir is also thick plastic, so it is very sturdy, and the handle has a good grip on it.

I did a lot of research on fat separators and decided to purchase this one because I read this on the listing description.EASY MAINTENANCE: With a detachable lid and glass basin, this gravy strainer comes apart for easy cleaning of its separate parts.My old glass fat separator broke last week and the only reason I purchased this one is because it said it had a glass basin. This one seems very sturdy and the silicone top is nice so I guess I’ll see if this one will last years like my glass one did. I wrote to Tovolo because their website says it’s glass too. They were very sorry and were unaware the description said the basin is glass. They told me they will be removing that from their description as they are not trying to mislead their buyers. Just be aware that there is no glass in this product if you decide to purchase it.

It works fine and is easy to clean but disappointed that the basin is not glass as described. It is hard plastic.
