Phone pocket is GREAT! Still a functional, efficient workhorse, but PLEASE make one slightly larger!
November 2019 update:I have continued to use this as my personal item for flights, most recently on a budget Frontier flight. No problems putting it under the seat in front of me. Still love the unique phone pocket and can't figure out why other companies aren't doing this. Can't figure why this company isn't putting phone pockets on their backpacks, either.Still wish the company would come out with a similar, slightly larger bag, that would meet personal item dimensions for budget flights, but better accommodate a laptop. I still have had no rips, tears, or other issues with the bag and consider it a good investment. If you don't need to carry around a laptop, I recommend this. It would fit a good size tablet very nicely though.I would also like to see a company manufacture a very thin, perhaps compressible, packing cube that would fit inside this to hold just a shirt and underthings as backups, in case luggage is lost. Maybe something that's about 10x8x1 inch compressed.October 2018 update:I used this while traveling to Las Vegas for a trade show and was generally pleased, although I would love to see the manufacturer come out with a deluxe version that's about 1" wider, about an inch deeper, and with a thin, water-resistant lining, especially for the main compartment and for the phone pocket on the strap (preferably in a bright, contrasting color to make it easier to see the contents).I used this bag the entire week-- on the plane, on the monorail and at the show. It sat on the floor in my hotel or hung on hooks, and even though I was toting around my laptop and a notebook the entire time, I had no problems with the seams giving out. With that said, my laptop is relatively small -- it measures 12.75 x 9 x 0.5 inches, and it took some finessing to fit it in this sling bag, so I'm not confident that it won't rip out at some point. I would not change my rating because of this, because I am aware of the bag's size and have chosen to push it to the limits. It fit very comfortably under my plane seat so I had room for my feet. With my other business backpack, I have to embark before the passenger in front of me if I want the backpack to fit under the seat, and even then I'm not sure that backpack isn't encroaching on that passenger's space. I much prefer flying with this bag than my nicer business backpack. If there was a deluxe version of this that was slightly wider and deeper, I could still fit it under the seat and have a little room to spare for some extra clothes, in case my luggage is lost. Just sayin'.Also, although the bag is water-resistant, I wish it had just a little more lining to keep the contents dry, especially my phone. During a soaking rain (after I landed here in the north), I realized that my new phone had water all over the screen when I unzipped the phone pocket. So a deluxe version with a thin waterproof lining would be great. On the other hand, it was very dry and hot in Las Vegas and that phone pocket on the strap proved perfect for toting around my phone and my room key car in a slim wallet.Still very happy with this sling bag for the 30 bucks I paid, but again, I'd like to see a deluxe version priced at around 40. I still recommend this bag, as long as you're not pushing it to the limits or using it in a downpour.Original review:I rarely review an item this quickly, but I gave this sling bag a good workout yesterday at our ROBO-CON Michigan festival, enough that I can give it a fair review.I loaded it up with many water bottles, many times, to distribute to hard-working volunteers--it held probably at least 10-11 full-size water bottles on each trip, plus many of the smaller water bottles. It was pretty comfortable for being so heavy, and I had absolutely no issues with it ripping out. I wore the pack around instead of carrying a purse, and each time I'd load up the water bottles, I turned it around and wore the main compartment on front so I could easily get to the water.I plan to use it instead of a full-sized tech backpack for an upcoming trade show to tote around my Mac laptop, which measures 12.75 x 9 x 0.5 inches. It just barely fits in the sling bag, but I think it should work fine. My other bag is just a little large to fit comfortably under a plane seat--I either have to irritate the passenger ahead of me or deal with it taking up my valuable foot room--I think this will be much better. I also love the pouch on the strap for my phone--it's much easier to get to your phone instead of trying to fish it out of one of the main zipper pockets. The sling bag is also much easier to wear than my tech backpack, (my tech backpack is always difficult to get over my second shoulder if I have the straps adjusted to a comfortable length). I also like that I don't have long webbing straps hanging down--on my tech backpack, I'm always grabbing at the extra webbing straps on escalators, as a friend was once injured when a pantleg was caught on an escalator.I like that the strap is cushioned, and that it can be worn on the opposite side--I generally wore the phone pouch strap on front, slung over my right shoulder so the strap attached on my left side, which made the zipper easy to access. I also like the padded portion in the center that goes against your back. The second zipper (the one behind the slash zipper you can see in the picture when the bag is turned at an angle) worked out very well to put my small wallet, keys, and a couple pens, since there is a smallish pocket that holds them in place when you unzip this compartment. Later I noticed there is also a leash for your keys.I had intially considered a very cheap sling bag but I'm glad I found this one. I also like that there's not some obnoxious company brand plastered on the bag--you can see the white lettering against the light heathery gray material, but it doesn't look ignorant like some of the cheap bags. This is a deal compared to my tech bag and after this weekend's good experience with the sling bag, I'm really looking forward to being able to count on it as a work travel bag.My one suggestion would be to included an elasticized pocket inside the phone pouch on the strap. This would alleviate any concerns about your phone falling out when you unzip the pocket, and make it easier to store another small item there, such as a room key card. Overall, though, I'm extremely happy with this sling bag. It's obviously well thought out to be a functional tool for people who are trying to accomplish a lot in an efficient manner. Looks nice too.

NeatPack vs. Outdoor Master vs. KAKA
I bought a few different sling bags as presents for friends who are traveling this spring. Tried to buy ones with different look/features for each individual. Since I was able to compare the brands I thought I would share my findings. They are all good bags. I would be happy with any of them. But the Neat Pack was the best of the group. I will show you what I consider the plusses and minuses of each. It is all relative to what you want to spend. Range is $20-$35.NeatPack Versatile Canvas Sling Bag/Urban Travel Backpack:+ Material used was best quality of the bunch. It is called black but actually dark grey. The photo on Amazon is exactly how it looks. You can see that the zipper material and cup holder mess is a true black. But the bag material is a wonderful looking cool dark grey. It looks fantastic and sets it apart from the others.+ Best craftsmanship of the bunch. Especially the inside pockets. Interior is grey instead of black like the rest. Makes it easier to see what is inside each pocket. And the sewn pouches in the pockets all look the sturdiest and more useable. I especially like the mesh pouch with zipper in the middle pocket.+ Reflectors on back of of bag work very well at night.- Phone pouch is too high on strap. Sometimes touches my chin. Could be a plus for those who want the phone closer to your ear.- Has simplest zipper pulls of the bunch.OutdoorMaster Sling Bag - Crossbody Backpack:+ No logo on front of bag. For those of you that hate company logos it is discreet. It is on top of sraps on back pf bag.+ Most comfortable to wear. The best strap padding is on the Outdoor Master and KAKA sling.- No phone pouch. Strap pouch will only hold items like credit cards (see photo on product site)+ If you don't care about a phone pouch this can be a positive because a phone pouch can get in the way sometimes.- Material on photo does not match material on product. Probably the biggest disappointment for me. Pack material looks more like felt on product photo. But it actually is more like the KAKA sling bag material on it's photo.KAKA Sling Bag, Crossbody Backpack Chest Shoulder Backpack:+ Has the biggest phone pouch of the group+ Has a USB port on the outside to connect a phone to and a USB cable inside largest pocket to connect your power bank portable charger.+ Largest pocket has an extra pouch to hold a power bank- Horrible name: KAKA embroidered on back of pack. Would you feel comfortable displaying this?- Reflectors on the bottle holder seem useless. The OutdoorMaster Sling Bag & KAKA Sling Bag are almost identical bags design wise and look. The pouches inside each pocket are identical down to the phone graphic. Looks to me like they are made by the same manufacturer and each company puts their little unique zipper pulls and strap hardware to make them ever so slightly different. The KAKA bag does have a few more features than the Outdoor Master though. All 3 of these bags are almost all the same size. What fits in one will fit in all. My 9.7" iPad in a Finite case fits the same in all 3. My main beef with all of them is the fit of an 8 1/2" x 11" paper. You will need to fit paper in a letter size ( 9 3/8 x 11 3/8") pocket folder so the papers don't crimp. And it is a tight squeeze so the pocket folder's corners will bend a little. For my money the Neat Pack was the best looking, best quality, most useful sling bag of them all. Well worth the money. I bought 2 Neat Packs as a gift for a couple going on a trip to Europe. Unfortunately for them the packs arrived late and missed the couple's departure. But I liked the Neat Pack so much I kept one of them for myself.

Almost intelligently designed
I've used this bag almost a month now. It's generally good. Fabric thickness is OK. The zippers are cheap. If it were just a tiny bit wider, it would accommodate standard sized school folder. As it is, it bends the corner. I was hoping to use this to replace a school backpack. Not recommended for this purpose.

Unfortunately the plastic clip would not hold strap together!
The media could not be loaded. Unfortunately the plastic clip that held the one strap together would not hold together so we had to send it back. we do want a replacement but that was not available due to Amazon not making that option available to us as the item was from the US. and we are in Australia.

Sling Travel Bag
This thing is like the Tardis! I can fit so much in there. I use it as a carry on when travelling and fits everything I need. But also great for walking around the streets when travelling as it has a pouch for a water bottle and plenty of other space for shopping etc.

Beware - Smaller than expected, cannot fit a 13" notebook
The material quality is good but it's smaller than expected. I've bought it for a trip overseas to bring my notebook. The main compartment can fit a 10" tablet but it cannot fit a 13" notebook. Thus I have to bring a messenger bag for my notebook. The smartphone pouch is large enough to fit a Samsung Galaxy S7 with an Otterbox case.

Le juste milieu entre trop petit et trop grand
Le sac correspond à mes attentes. J'ai eu des difficultés à m'y adapter au début, mais maintenant je le porte plus que le précédent que j'avais. Très fonctionnel, solide et léger.
