Mason Cash Black Pie Bird

I love to bake but often the filling will ooze out of the pie while baking. This is an old fashioned idea which works! You simply put the pie bird in the center of the pie shell before adding the filling. Spoon in the filling around the pie bird. If you have a top crust make sure to cut out a small space to let the pie bird peep out of the pie. I always add several slits around the pie bird in the top crust. When it is not in use it looks cute sitting on the kitchen counter or it is small enough to put in a drawer.

I have ordered 4 others of these birds each by other manufacturers. Each one was slated to be 4” tall but was only 3-3 1/2”. They were each too short for my deep-dish pan. THIS ONE WORKS!! It is a full 4” tall and is very cute. It even has a dot in the center of each eye to give it a glint of life. Very fun pie-bird!!

The crow pie bird is adorable and functional plus looks so cute in the pie. I am amazed that it arrived ubdamaged, however, becauae it was loose in the box with a wood and metal whisk I bought at the same time. There was some packing material in the box but it, too, was just loose in the box. I wish the pie bird came in it's own Mason Cash box.

It's as cute as can be! I saw Vera Stewart use a similar one on "The Very Vera Show," so I immediately perused Amazon's offerings. Although there were cheaper ones, this seemed to be the best--and I just love it!

Exactly what I was looking for. I have a time with fruit pies and a solid top crust. Lots more apple pies in the future thanks to this little bird!

I have one just like this and bought this as a gift. I know it will work just as described and between baking times it's a cute addition to the kitchen decor. This arrive it perfect condition.

I love it. A little larger than I expected. I especially like the dot in the eye that so many others don't have.

This is a stocking stuffer for my daughter who is just starting to bake. I know that she'll love it.

Unfortunately the photo doesn’t look like the item. The base of the other is flat and does not allow steam to leave the pie. I tried to return but the cost of postage, which was not refundable, almost outweighed the price of the item. Relegated to the bin.
