Does its Job at a Reasonable Price
Need a support and not a good place to add support bar to wall. The directions were not the best but I was able to figure out using the pictures. It seems to be a solid design the the locking parts to hold all together. Looked easier to put together than the ones that sit on the floor. Install went fine it was just hard for me to get at the nuts under the seat. Once I got it all screwed together, it was very strong and easy to use. There were two widths it could be set at for different size people where so many accessibility aids are set to the 16" to 17" only. The holes in the back for the locking pins are wide and I figured out why. The bars lift up just enough to be able to clean under the front supports (I can imagine them getting dirty). You can also change the width after they have been installed with the push in locking pins. The front supports are under the toilet seat and are really stable. I was worried at the larger width they would not have enough front support but they actually did. They made standing so much easier and stable with an injured leg. I do highly recommend.

Amazingly easy to assemble and so secure and sturdy!
I wish we would have found this about 6 months ago, it would have saved alot of back pain and cleaning messes on the toilet and floor, as well as everything my father was wearing from the waist down. Finally something that is secure for him to hold onto while lowering to the toilet. This has been a savior for my father, who has Dementia and anxiety. Sitting down onto the toilet was such a chore, when he is afraid of lowering down to the seat that he cannot see behind him, and my mother or I trying to hold double our weight while lowering him softly to the seat. This has truly been a blessing. I highly recommend for anyone who has difficulty getting down to that seat.

Perfect - if you have room for it
I chose this safety rail because I wanted a stable and sturdy design that didn't hang off of the toilet. This model is sturdy enough for my 250+ pound father to easily get up and down. The padded handles aren't as cold or hard as the standard designs. It's easy to assemble, and an absolute lifesaver for the mobility impaired. The only issue to keep in mind is that it is 27 inches wide. I like the extra width, since it's more stable and less cramped, but make sure you have room for it! Many tiny bathrooms just don't have the clearance on either side of the toilet. We have a couple of inches to spare. There isn't enough clearance for me to install the magazine holder in the pictures (no big loss there). Even though it's a tight fit, the handles curve inward from the widest point, so there's no problem getting your hands around the handles. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. Update: Just over two years after buying this product, it collapsed. The welds in the base gave way. I think my father might have fallen on it or exerted a lot of force somehow to cause it to collapse. So I'm updating my review to be accurate, but I'm buying another one. I'll get one that has the same design, but is less expensive. I noticed that the price more than doubled since I bought this, and the other brands offer a price comparable to what I originally spent.

Safe and effective
My 79 year old father fell and broke his hip July 3rd. He was moved to an skilled nursing facility a few days after surgery. He stayed longer than was planned and I wanted him to be safe when he came home. In addition to the grab bar I had installed I also purchased this after discussing it with the director of the facility my father was staying in. Once I figured out how the pieces went together it was an easy install. So far it has worked well in conjunction to the grab bar I had installed next to the toilet. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that it took me a bit to figure out how to fit the pieces together. Sometimes people need written directions to go along with the picture, especially when the picture directions weren't clear.

Safety
I was worried that this toilet safety rail would be wobbly but so far it is nice and sturdy. Very easy to attach to the toilet & can be removed to clean. Does not extend too far & wide which is great for the space in our bathroom. My Dad has dementia and seems to have trouble with his depth perception when trying to sit on the toilet or any chair. This product has been great and seems to help alot. He has not fallen since we installed this for him. We can tell that he feels alot more secure getting up and down. There is no floor bar in front of toilet for him to trip on so we are very happy with this product.

Nice Product
So far so good. Needed this for my mom recovering after total knee replacement. She is short and about 200lb and it is sturdy enough for her. I like that it doesnโt have legs/feet so she can use her walker more easily with this one in our tiny bathroom. I wrapped the tips is carpet grip tape. I found that stability is only an issue when set on the widest setting. If width of handles is set on narrowest setting there are minimum issues with slippage/stability. Easy to put together and install. Was able to buy with FSA. Arrived very quickly.

Unobtrusive toilet rail. Note assembly method.
My Mom is almost completely immobile due to osteoporosis. While she was still mobile we had a rail that was separate from the toilet for years. She now needs to use a Stand Assist machine to stand and move around. The old rail blocked access to the toilet. With it gone she felt she was falling off the toilet. She has had a few falls from her wheelchair and is deathly afraid of falling. With this unit, I can maneuver her onto the toilet, unbelt her from the machine, and she is no longer afraid of falling. The one caveat: I clean her after toilet use. If you have to "wipe" yourself, it's best to press the brass stop on the side you wipe on, and pull the rail out and rotate it to the floor. No big deal. Then put it back in place and lock it in again. It is also a lot stronger than I thought it was going to be. Manufacturer rating is 300 pounds; I'm 250 and can put a lot of pressure on the rails. I was going to put rails on the wall that swing up out of place. That would have been $140 minimum for 2. I thought $33 was steep. It's a bargain. By the way: During assembly, I attached the back to the toilet FIRST, then assembled the handles from there. Trying to get the whole thing in place in my house would be difficult. I guess you could put it all together and hold the arms out of the way while attaching, but it went together just fine the way I did it.

Very useful!!!
Fairy easy installation, and works great. Bought one for my mom, and then another one for my grandparents. It really takes the strain off of standing and sitting from the toilet, I even enjoyed how much easier it was to sit and stand haha. I would highly recommend if you or someone you know is needing an aid for standing and sitting!

great invention for small spaces..
terrific.. my space around the toilet is small, so I could only use 1 arm. back bar sits under your toilet seat. side bar is in 3 pieces that slide together, and the back end has a pin on it that slides into the back bar. the front flat rubber piece of the arm sits under the bottom part of the toilet seat. no tools required. painted metal very easy to clean. top of handle has non slip rubber. unit is very sturdy and very light for weight. the best part is no legs on the arms that take up floor space !!!

Toilet aid
Product is well made. Handle bars holds my weight. Only problem I wish it had aided me with was to make toilet higher, hard to push off after hip surgery.

Will it fit your toilet???
This did not fit my toilet. This is intended for a round toilet, which wasnโt indicated on the package. My toilet was more long and so the arms would slide off of the bowl. Make sure your toilet will work with this set up.
