Dungeons & Dragons: Ghosts of Saltmarsh Adventure System Board Game Expansion (Premium Edition)

The most disappointing D&D adventure system
For what you get, this is about $40 overpriced. This box tells you up front that it only has 8 minis in it. While minis are the main value reason to get the adventure system (AS) boxes IMO, I still wanted to check this one out for completeness and for the new cards for earlier AS games. That was a bad move on my part. The adventure module is not anything special. There is no real expansion on the rules for AS games. And out of the 8 minis there is not a new character to use in the various AS games. Overall this was a lazy, overpriced entry for WotC. Two stars for the Premium Edition because The 8 minis are nicely painted and there are a few new cool spells. Though if you feel like you really need to spend $85 on gaming stuff, save yourself about $10 and buy roughly 5 booster boxes of WizKids minis instead. Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately, Ghosts of the Saltmarsh is a sad disappointment.
I hate to say this because I was really waiting in total anticipation for this game. Sure, it was unusual that GoS was an expansion set. But I let that slide because I knew times were tough and Wizkids was doing their best and trying to save a buck by giving customers less but yet, charging the same price as the regular games. Okay, I fell for it because I love this adventure, I'll gladly take it on the chin (and wallet). Then came all the shipping delays, but this just made me want the game more so I let it pass. Sadly, when the GoS finally came in I soon discovered that the game was a convoluted mess. I don't care that sometimes you have to adapt and make your own assumptions on how certain elements of the game are played, just as long as it's fun. But I soon discovered, just about EVERY adventure was a mess, especially the instructions for the first three. It got so bad that I had to eventually skip adventures two and three because it took way too much effort to figure out the new rules. As the adventures progressed, I still felt the game never could pick up any momentum. I got more frustrated with the endless lazy instructional mistakes and the ever-tedious adventure set ups that took FOREVER to do. Finally, I had to stop playing and come to the realization that this expansion was a total let down (especially from all the time I wasted on looking back n forth to the instructions to make sure I was doing things correctly instead of actually playing). In essence, GoS is a total disaster. If I can recommend anything from this experience it's get the other games and totally forget about this one. It simply isn't worth the play time and money. And it honestly pains me to say this because I've really enjoyed all the other games in this series.Take this as you will.

I love these games-ish
The dungeons and dragons adventure system boardgames really are great, fun, and quick little hack n' slash dungeon crawlers. The AI isn't the best and the tile placement system can be a little bonkers at times, but if you loved heroquest growing up, then these games should offer up a good amount of nostalgia and fun! Great for first-timers and kids to the over-all hobby of miniature table top gaming, but your older, more seasoned gaming group may want to look at something with a little more meat(GLOOMHAVEN). 5 out of 5 stars!

Good addition
Overall everything was great, it is a nice expansion adventure. Reminder that it is just the base adventure, no new hero cards or anything, just a few new monsters and 2 boss figures. But overall it will be a good addition to my other d and d box games

A sloppy and lazy mess.
I purchased this game in hopes of adding value to my other adventure board games. Unfortunately, this one came up incredibly short. I can set aside the lack of hero characters, as the only positive on the gameplay I have on this one is that it allows you to use the heroes from the other sets with no real issue. There are a few adjustments, but talk with your group for alternate uses of the older characters abilities. The only other positive is the models. I purchased the premium edition and the painted sahuagin are amazing. I needed them for my mini collection. Other than that, everything else is disappointing. The gameplay leaves everything to be desired. There are 9 adventures in this book and 4 take place in the city. The city adventures use completely different rules from the dungeon crawl and the rules do not do a good enough job explaining how the order of operation goes. These missions forgo encounter cards and replace them with 15 adventure cards that just add monsters and villagers to the map. No other interaction, no other game elements. Just boring. It feels very sloppy. And, they are never engaging. They were very frustrating to play. The lack of adventure specific treasure is also a major let down. They say to use the treasure from any other game system, but those are specific to that setting. And the first 3 games, the treasure system is completely different from the newer 3. That integration is lazy. Conclusion, skip this game. If you want the sahuagin models, just wait until wizkids releases the monster pack for them. This game adds nothing to the adventure board games that came before it.Pro: models and previous character integration.Con: boring, lacking and lazily designed.

Poor decisions
Changing the nature of the game like this … really poor decision.

Lazy Expansion. Don't support.
Significantly less minis and content, especially for price point. Content is unoriginal. Buy a different dungeon crawler board game.

Mejor comprense boosters de Icons of the realms.
