Nothing you didn’t already know
If you’re reaching for this title it’s likely that you’re desperate for sleep in the middle of the night- sadly this book doesn’t have any secrets or pearls of wisdom that you haven’t already read elsewhere. Indeed I’m not sure it had any secrets or wisdom at all!

This is as close to a must-read as you can get if you’re a parent – or parent-to-be.
This is a marvelous resource for any parent out there.Having children is one of the most wonderful and rewarding things that we can ever hope to experience in our lives – well, most of the times that is. Because the fact of the matter is, sooner or later there will come a day when those cute little ones will have you tear your hair out in hopeless desperation just because their baby won’t fall asleep. Why oh why can’t they just fall asleep? Indeed, that is the question.Having said that, I found this book to be an instrumental resource when it comes to my own parenting. Having gone through this book, I have gained a deeper understanding about why sleep is so crucial to babies, whether my child has a sleep problem or not and whether or not co-sleeping is a good or bad idea for me, as well as numerous sleep strategies. Moreover, one thing that I really appreciated with this book is that the author included some very useful information on the topic of coping with colic and how to deal with travel or various unanticipated disruptions in our everyday routines.Again, this is as close to a must-read as you can get if you’re a parent – or parent-to-be.

Useful overview for sleepless parents.
This book by Meredith McDow is a useful overview of a baby's sleep problems. New parents can be overwhelmed with what they have to learn and they can't cope if the baby isn't sleeping well (because then THEY aren't sleeping well) Ms McDow offer a sensible approch to discovering the nat ure of the problems and she offers solutions. She is experienced enough to know, however, that not all "solutions" are for all babies. Driving them around in a car at 2 a.m. for example, worked for my daughters but not for one of my grandchildren. Good short chapters on norms, differences, signs of a problem, colic, sleep logs (might as well do them, you're up anyway!) and more.

Didn't really give me much more than I knew through common sense other than reassurance that there is no right answer!
