Awesome short sword.
This isn't a dagger. I know a cinquedea is usually thought of as a dagger, and maybe it was during the Renaissance, but this is too big to be a dagger. That being said, I love this short sword. It feel glorious to hold and the weight makes it good to chop or cut. It came with a sharpened edge that worked without any extra work from me. The grip feels very durable and the pommel/crossguard look beautiful. The sheath keeps the sword snug and is fashioned in a way that the edge doesn't touch the sides unless you intentionally sheath your sword wrong. If you are in the market for a conversation starter of a short sword, this is a great value for what the money. Cold Steel did an amazing job with this, I'd give it more than 5 stars if amazon let me.

our 19 year old Son's favorite Christmas gift this year
bought it for my son as an afterthought really, just trying to " pad " the box count.... turned out to be his favorite gift of the year, edging out the new 2tb X-box.....who knew?....SHARP out of the box, has the distinct " handmade " not exactly perfect, but adds to the charm level of finish.... as expected it's a touch blade heavy, but balances well.Kinda wish I had ordered 2 so I could have one myself.... or 3 so I could have 2 myself >.>I'm kind of a duel wield is better if you can kind of guy ....but yea, if you are reading this, it's because you want one..... just get it, WELL worth the cost, and this from a man with over 3000 knives and swords ranging from 50.00 production EDC beaters to 5000.00 custom swords and etc...

Cold Steel does it again!
This is a wicked knife/short sword designed for close in work. You know if you get stabbed with this it is going to take a team of Surgeons to save your life, kind of the medieval equivalent of a 12 gauge shotgun.I've been looking at this one for two years now. Amazon dropped the price down to less than $120 from the normal $150 + from other online sources. It was a case of " I need it, I want it and I've got to have it!! "It is heavy, sharp, well made, great grip, sturdy sheath, beautiful, affordable, scary etc..You can stare Crocodile Dundee down and say " Now this is a knife!".If you love knives and swords YOU NEED This one.Thank you Cold Steel for this Classic!!

Blade steel is terrible.
When I got the blade it was completely smothered in what looked like cosmoline. Was almost impossible to get off. The handle bled black dye on everything. Once I got it cleaned the blade started to RUST just sitting there. I oiled the blade and got the rust off. Cleaned the blade and put it back in the sheath. Took it out next day and where the sheath leather touched it was VERY RUSTY. Have not been able to get it off.I am thinking this is cheap mild steel from India.DO NOY BUY THIS!! WASTE OF MONEY!!

Great for the price!
Overall decent build quality. My only nitpick is that the fullers on mine were not even and that there is already wear or corrosion on my blade from the sheath.

Fantastic! Very well made
Fantastic! Very well made! The grease kept the blade rust free & clean! It was even sharp! Not as sharp as I keep most of my knives, but it was easy to remedy that!

Overall feedback
The blade itself is awesome, the balance is good, and overall it's quite beautiful. But I found the studded handle very uncomfortable, and parts of the scabbard were already Rusty straight out of the box. I find both of those issues quite disappointing

Factory second
This product is clearly a factory second or a blemished pice which didn't pass quality control. I take issue with this since the seller listed the item as in new condition. This to me does not constitute new. The piece seems to be structurally intact and the only issues I've found are cosmetic. However it's not the deal I thought I was getting.There are two different polish finishes around the same brown on the sheath. It's difficult to see in the photo but it looks like someone was either learning how to polish these or they gave up halfway through. It's not a big deal for me personally however if I had purchased this as a display piece I would be quite unhappy about thisThere also is a long cut in the leather on the front face and a glob of adhesive which sticks out from under the metal throat. The cut line would seem as a result of someone trying to remove excess adhesive and doing a careless job.For me these are not big issues because I expect this piece to pick up some wear and tear from use. However again if you were interested in display this wouldn't have met my expectations.
