Great Lamp for Watercolor Painting
I'm very happy with this lamp. It allows me to paint when the light is dim and I love the magnifying feature it has. I often paint using a photograph and this feature lets me get a much larger and sharper view. Being able to move the lamp and magnifier neck was the selling feature for me.

OK for fly tying
I've had this light and magnifier for a year now, primarily use it for tying flies at my table. I got it from Amazon with free shipping, it came well packaged and only too 3 days to arrive. The price was very good as well. All in all, it is a very nice light, the characteristics are ideal for tying flies and doing other detailed work in the shop. You can adjust the head of the light for various angles, or move the goose-neck itself to totally reposition the light out of the way, or get a different angle, etc. The mount that the bottom of the light goose-neck fits into is fairly tight, but I've noticed that it is loosening up a bit with use. We'll have to see how it does over time. The spectrum of light provided is very good; much better than typical incandescent or florescent light. So the colors of the materials I select for my flies, are about as close to what you'd have in natural lighting. Hey, I've also noticed I need a little more light the older that I get too, and have found myself using the light/magnifier for small electrical projects, reel maintenance, etc. The magnifier goose-neck is fairly rigid and a little difficult to get it to stay in shape at times. So you sometimes need to bend it a few times, to get it where you exactly want/need it. Even so, it is easy to swivel out of the way when you don't need it. However, I've noticed that the lens itself does scratch easily and tends to collect dust. So be sure to use one of those micro-fibre rags with a little moisture to clean it up -- anything else causes scratches! The base has a felt material on the bottom, and would be a little better if this was a rubber material that grasps the surface better. Sometimes the base will slide on the table top, when you swivel the lens on the base to get it out of the way. [I had it fall on the floor one time when I wasn't paying attention, so I may glue a piece of 1/8" mouse pad on the bottom, if it happens again.] It comes with a 5-6' cord, which is long enough to plug into a nearby wall outlet. My old light/magnifier only had a 3' cord, and I had to use an extension cord with it. The on-off switch gets used at least 2 or 3 times a day and I was concerned that that might be a problem (based on the problem I had with my old light). But so far it is working just like the day I got it.

The lamp portion does not stay in place in the base ..
There seems to be something missing in the post that you push into place of the base for the lamp/magnifying glass to sit in. Most posts have a ball bearing which goes in while inserting then pops back out when pushed into place. There are holes in each side of it but no ball bearings on each side. Whenever I need to move the lamp to another place, the entire top portion comes out of the heavy base and since the lamp and magnifying glass if held from the bottom will flop over. Then, I remember, oh yeah, I need to carry the entire base and lamp. I'm thinking about returning it and play more money for the other brand. The lighting is okay and the attached magnifier is okay and comes with a little sack to cover it while not in use to prevent it from getting scratched I believe.

The weight of the lamp is good, the light is easily movable and very bright
This product is all that the description says about it. The weight of the lamp is good, the light is easily movable and very bright. The magnifier is of really good quality also. No looseness or flimsy parts. The magnifier moves well independently of the light. This is the best product I found in this category.

Great Magnifying daylight craft lamp.
What a nice lamp...daylight temp on the bulb, and a great magnifier to boot. This will work very well for my fly tying craft, especially tying midges. I saved almost 40% compared to getting it at the local store.

since it was super expensive, and used it periodically for crafts
I've had my lamp for 5 years. Treated it with kid gloves, since it was super expensive, and used it periodically for crafts. Was a great light until it died for no reason. Changed the bulb, tried multiple outlets. For the price, the lamp should have lasted much longer. Disappointed.

Daylight Tabletop Craft Lamp
This lamp provides good natural light over a wide surface area. The light and mirror are very flexible and I have been able to move them into whatever position I like. They tend to unscrew themselves from the base and need to be adjusted regularly if I move them a lot. The base is heavy enough but could be a little wider for better balance. I do have problems with glare in the magnifier. It is plastic and scratches easily and should pprobably be wider as only the center seems glare free. I think that, if I had good close up vision, I would order this lamp without the magnifier.

Excellent product!
This product is excellent - the light is wonderfully bright - and the addition of the magnifying glass attached makes jewelry making and other crafts that uses small supplies easy to see!

Boy did I make a mistake buying this lamp. Stupid me, I should have looked more closely if it was LED or fluorescent. Yup it was the tube so the light takes time to become bright and is not as bright as I thought it would be. I also should have listen to the other reviews when they said there is a glare with the lens and that the base is not connected to the lamp. Sooo... it still sits in the box. I can't return it because I opened it up and I have tried to sell it but no one wants to buy it.
