Durable and light weight
After looking at several shingle cutters, the Howard 2003 Shingle Shear seemed to be the best match for my project. We have cut 42 squares with lots of angle cuts for dormer valleys and have had no loss of function from the shingle cutter. The fact that it is light weight makes it easy to move around, yet it is a durable piece of equipment. It has been a great tool for our roofing project where lots of angle cuts were needed.

Shingle Shear, good tool.
The Shingle Shear is a great tool for most comp shingles, I am a General Contractor, "Corbaley Construction" and have had a good deal of expieriance on roofs, the only folly of this tool is when you need to cut a tri laminate life time comp shingle it is a little flimsy but can do the job well.Corbaley Construction

excellent tool
This is my second shingle shear I've purchased. I am a contractor and do approximately 35-40 roofs a year. My first shingle shear finally wore out after 200 or so roofs. I wouldn't roof anything without it. On gable end cuts, one guy measures another uses the shingle shear for the cuts, throws them down to to the edge to be nailed down and repeat. You can run up the edge of a roof in no time. My opinion a must have!!

KICKS OUT SOME SHINGLES!
JUST FINISHED OUR OWN HOME MY WIFE AND I AND WE CUT ALL OUR HEAVY ELK DOMAIN ASHFORD LANDSCAPE SHINGLES WITH THIS THING. GREAT TOOL. DOES THE JOB AND IS DEPENDABLE. CUTTING BY HAND JUST DON'T CUT IT. THIS TOOL ROCKS----AND SO WILL YOUR ROOFING JOB. AND REMEMBER NOW...DON'T STEP BACK TO ADMIRE YOUR WORK...UNTIL YOU'RE ON THE GROUND. HA

Good item
I use this frequently. It works well and stays sharp enough to cut effectively. I always thought these would be a waste of money (a utility knife blade costs $.05 per side, why bother), but after using it on a 3-ply laminate shingle I was converted. Now I use it to make at least 50% of my cuts.

If you shingle for a living, you should have ...
If you shingle for a living, you should have one of these. It will make up the cost in a couple roof jobs, and will last a long time after that.

Best shear
I am a carpenter of 20+ years and do alot of roofing. This shear is the best one I have used out of 3 different ones. The best selling point is the ability to measure your shingle without having to use your tape,it saves alot of time. I highly recommend this tool.I think it is well worth the the money. E.Karow
