TeraFlex 4997192 JL: CB Antenna & Flag Whip Mount Bracket Kit

I purchased this to mount my ham radio antenna on a 2020 Jeep JLU Recon edition. Come to find out after take the 100 pound 33” mud terrain off the rear carrier. That this is designed only to fit the stock door hinge of the Jeep. The hardware is to short for the heavy duty Mopar carrier. I sent Teraflex an email asking if there was a work around or longer hardware available. They sent me a short email back and said no its for the standard hinge assembly only. So save your money and look else where if you have the hd hinges.

I'm a big fan of Teraflex and their stuff. Works well and holds the antenna in place. I had to scratch some of the paint off in order for my antenna to ground itself to the jeep but otherwise this product is very nice and good quality.Added some pics to show where it’ll mount on the tailgate.

The product came in a Teraflex branded box with sufficient protective packaging. The hardware bag was missing the two M10x1.5 nuts meant for use with the mounting studs. The three page stapled together instructions were turned to the middle pages which makes me think this was a returned item. Fortunately I don't need the missing nuts as the bracket will be installed on a Teraflex heavy duty hinge, not the factory hinge. I will replace the two cheap/poorly finished M10x1.5x25MM hex flange bolts with stainless steel button head cap screws to prevent rust. Note: to properly install, you should remove some of the brackets powder coat under the antenna and one of the mounting bolts to provide a good ground. The bracket is aluminum so no need to worry about it rusting.

this part looks good, is easy to install, and is very sturdy. it does have one big flaw... it sits so close up against the back door that if you have any antenna installed in the mount, you have to open the door all the way or the glass will bump up against the antenna when opening the glass. it really should sit another 2 inches or so further away from the door to give more glass clearance imo.
