Chicago PD S1-8 [DVD] [2021]

Following the brutal murder of George Floyd, the script writers for Chicago PDappear to have toned down on the subject matter for season 8.Some episodes seem almost mundane for the Intelligence Unit to deal with, butthat is understandable in the current political climate in the USA.That being said, there is still a great deal of interest and excitement in the 16episodes that we see here.Presumably the lack of crossover episodes is due to the Covid pandemic, as wesee no interaction with the cast of Chicago Med or Fire even in emergency aspectsof the show.Nevertheless the cast are brilliant, and special mention must be given to MarinaSquerciati ( Kim Burgess) and Tracy Spiridakos ( Hailey Upton) and LeRoyce Hawkinsas Kevin Atwater.

I love Chicago PD, I love season 8 and I think that this release, in terms of audio and video quality, is great. The 16 episodes are divided into 4 discs, so there are 4 episodes per disc. The only negative thing I could say is that it's a shame it has no extras.The menu of the DVD is static; it has the Chicago PD season 8 logo in the background and on the right side, while the episodes are being displayed vertically on the left side with the options of "Play All" above them and "Setup" below them. Also, in the menu the ending theme song of the show is playing.The audio is only english and in the setup section you only have three subtitles options, english for the deaf & hard-of-hearing, french and no subtitles.In short, although I would have loved some extras, this DVD release is pretty great (I couldn't really ask for more on a DVD). In a perfect universe I would have loved a blu-ray release, but hey, at least we still got DVD releases.

As a big fan of dick wolf productions the latest series of chigago pd does not disappoint. I do agree with fellow reviews that due to the political climate in the USA at the moment the story lines are somewhat predictable and also there are less episodes due to covid restrictions. That being said I'm glad they managed to produce a series and also two further seasons have been confirmed. Yet another excellent, gritty series to add to the collection. Dont miss out.

Although still a very good series, I agree with one of the previous reviewers in that, it was a more politically correct, however it finished on a much better note.

The writers are very consistant with the high quality of stories and lives of the charactors. Can't fault this series at all. Recommend
