Back to the Roots Garden in A Jar, Cilantro (Packaging May Vary)

I was getting pretty frustrated with the plastic packages of organic basil- it was always rotten when I opened it. The big box stores weren't carrying basil plants in the garden center because it was too cold. Voila! I saw this and decided to get one to grow inside. By day number 7 (first picture), some of them showed their little green leaves. By day 10 I took out all but 3 as directed on the label. By 14 days (second picture is a collage of multiple days) they're getting much taller. You feed them 2 tablespoons of water a day. I have it in a south facing window. The coolest thing of all is if you take a picture of it and send it to Back to the Roots folks, they will send a plant to a school of your choice so they can have a classroom project and witness the miracle themselves! I think that is so wonderful!

Horrible! Got a few sprouts that never materialized into anything resembling mint. About ten cents of seeds in a 25 cent mason jar. So disappointed and feel ripped off. I had purchased some other kits for gifts previously and was going to use this as potential holiday gift but no way. I think the recipients were too polite to tell me it didn't work Do yourself a favor and save the money- DO NOT BUY. Go to Wegmans and buy a lush healthy plant for $2.99. If the company that shipped this is reading, I really think you should do the right thing and refund my money.Oh by the way, this was purchased begin October and this is what it look like now.

My root garden in a jar arrived in a timely manner. I followed the instructions very carefully. All I have to show for my efforts and continued efforts are two very tiny little plants that don't seem to be growing much at all. I tend to me somewhat disappointed in this but I am not giving up. I don't think any other plants are going to come up but I will see what I can do with these two very tiny, slow growing ones.

I consider myself to be above average with planting/growing flowers and herbs so I was disappointed when not even one seed germinated. I think it would have been more successful with some kind of a covering to keep in moisture when first planted

This is just too easy. Just follow the simple instructions and a couple of weeks later you will have fresh basil. Well worth it.

I have been growing this since September and just realized that it isn't mint at all. It's some sort of lemon smelling herb. So buyer beware. If you want a traditional mint buy it elsewhere. Pretty but not great for ice tea.

Our seeds started growing within a week and have steadily been growing since! Looking forward to when it's leaves are full-grown and I can make some pesto. :) Very happy with this purchase!

tried 3 different times trying to get something to sprout. Tried to follow the instructions and place in the sun, but the hot AZ sun, even through windows is too much. So, I tried putting a plastic tent over the top to keep the soil moist. Still nothing sprouted. So I tried again with the plastic, but in a brighter spot. Still nothing. Gosh, I'm a gardener and can get almost anything to grow. Just tough luck with this one.
